I'll be picking this release up day one. I prefer the extended editions to the Theatricals and the color changes don't bother me too much for most of the caps, besides they may not be as noticeable when in motion on my display at home.

Yeah, but there weren't any smilies in the response, thus I couldn't be sure.

Wow, I thought the packaging was already confirmed. That black book style is awesome and reminds me of the EE DVD packaging.

If I begin a movie that starts with greenish palette, then I will quickly settle into it and none of it will look out of place. I try not to judge a movie based on a single shot in time. I'm just excited to finally have the EEs in high def.

I am excited about it too. BUT if they messed up the transfer it really makes it hard for me to want to drop $80+ on it. I was a little hesitant due to the price but now I am going to hold off until we get a little more definitive word from Peter Jackson. Didn't they use an entirely new transfer for FOTR since the theatrical BD was generally slammed. It sounds like in their effort to create something of higher quality they screwed up on the colortiming of the new transfer. I just want to know where is the quality control. Also was this set moved up from a later date. Its kind of funny that this set was announced after the Star Wars titles and will street well before them. I wonder if they were hoping to have more time to prep these, but then Star Wars staked out September and with all the other big titles coming out it was going to be a crowded marketplace in the fall.

As somebody who has worked in the customer service industry before, I have heard people say far stupider things. Innocent mistake.

Maybe he's approved the new colors, maybe he hasn't; maybe he likes the new colors, maybe he doesn't; maybe he'll care enough to do something about it, maybe he won't.

In any case, I think letting him know some people are either unhappy with or puzzled by the colors isn't a bad idea; who knows, he may give more attention to this BD set than he would've otherwise.

I also wonder what will come out of all this. I actually like the new colors in general - if they did offer an exchange program, I'm not sure whether I'd exchange my disc or not. But it'd be nice to have a choice. Maybe the current FOTR will become a collector's item?

I watched that clip with the green transition. After we get back to Rivendell and Frodo and Gandalf begin their discussion, the colours looked more natural to me. Obviously, the scene before was terrible for colours, but the next one didn't look as bad so I really don't know what they were doing.
Yeah, the pillows looked pretty white to me in that scene with Frodo on the bed. That scene didn't feel greenish at all, even comparing to the theatrical screenshots.

Also, in many scenes people's hair looks white enough (for example, the scene where Saruman greets Gandalf at the bottom of Orthanc), whereas inside the tower the green tint is easily noticeable. I wonder whether the amount of tint varies from scene to scene or if my perception is affected by the surrounding colors somehow.

To be honest, some scenes obviously look pretty odd (inside Orthanc, the fade, on the mountain), but in most cases, it's not terribly bad. Teal skies don't bother me too much, and with the exception of a few scenes I actually like the new colors, wrong as they are.

Absolutely loving the packaging for the new EE Blu's Glad it doesn't open right out like the dvds did. Will hopefully get some online reviews before mine is despatched but at the moment I will not be cancelling my pre-order.

Definitely not the US or UK release... This is the version I believe for Poland and Asian markets.

U.S. release is English and Portuguese audio only.
