I would prefer to have one disc per movie, but if the quality suffers even 0.01%, I would rather have two. It would be nice to watch the whole film without switching discs, but it's not that big of a deal to switch discs after two hours (snacks & bathroom break time).

I also don't think there's much of a chance that these go beyond one disc per movie. As already mentioned, Watchmen is a movie that is just over 3 hours and it fits on one disc easily along with the Maximum Movie Mode. I realize these are longer than Watchmen, but there was still plenty of room left on the disc. Opinions on the compression differ, but either way, these will still likely all be on one disc per movie. |

Again, Criterion's The Thin Red Line has more than 5 hours of 1080p video on one disc. It can been done if handled correctly.

Based on the fact along that the extendeds had better video and Audio quality on DVD then the previous versions, the Theatricals looked horrid on dvd especially fellowship, EE fixed the issues then and it should do so now.

The EE do have enough extras, but the Ultimate Edition version is supposed to contain extra scenes.
PJ said the scenes won't be put into the movie they'll be an option to watch separately. He feels the EE are a finished project and doesn't want to keep adding to it. |
