That's what life is all about for us! And that, of course, it's in no way a childish, patronizing, poor-man's counter-argument. You nailed it. |

It's honestly not a huge deal to me and if WB aren't replacing it, so be it; I'm done with this issue. |

Didn't Warner already issue that same statement before? It reads like a customer service rep just Emailed out the standard reply. No specific name was given for who released that statement.
There is no way that green titles and green fade to whites (and green/loss of white level throughout) was intentional in only one of the three films. If that really is Warner and PJ's stance, to sweep a legitimate and measureable error under the rug.. then it says a lot about them. If they are going to play that card I expect them to release the green tinted FOTR on every subsequent release in the future. Will they? |

1. "Shut up!" 2. "What green?" 3. "Peter Jackson approved it, so it's right!" 4. "It's art. Colors aren't supposed to look natural." 5. "Wait until you've spent $80, THEN comment!" ... and dozens of other absurd arguments. I find it disspiriting to read post after post from people defending what is obviously, clearly a major league screw up in any way they possibly can, while slathering on contempt and abuse on anyone who might dare to pipe up and say: "Um... is the whole friggin' FILM supposed to look GREEN?!!" This board should be 100% unified in the opinion that tinting an entire film GREEN is WRONG. Obviously, though, that's far from the case. Now, there IS some question as to what, exactly is ON the blu-rays people are just beginning to receive... and, like others, I'll admit it leaves me completely, utterly confused. How can we simultaneously have reports from people saying the green is present, while reports from other people saying there's no sign of the green at all? Did Warners correct the problem already and ship SOME corrected sets, while allowing other, defective sets to be sold in the sure knowledge that only 10% of the people who bought them are actually going to know and/or be bothered by the Shrek-effect? This is really reprehensible both on the part of the film company AND Peter Jackson (it IS, after all, his work... you'd think, out of courtesy for his fans, at least, he might have made SOME statement about this). We wouldn't be arguing back and forth about this on this board AT ALL if one of those two parties actually had the stones to step up to the plate and SAY SOMETHING, would we? Oh, well... maybe they're waiting until the release date, tomorrow, to make an announcement. I hope so. I want to buy the thing (not greenified, thank you). |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/4886585-post5777.html Anyhow, I have just received an e-mail from amazon.com stating that my order has been shipped, and I was like "wtf?" because I was unsure about whether or not cancelling it, but I have noticed Mr. Harris's post about the Warner Home Video's official statement (which I could not locate on Warner's or Warner Home Video's website) which suddenly made me very happy because I would not be able to benefit from a replacement program in Europe. Assuming that the statement Mr. Harris relies on is really official, it seems that there won't be a replacement program for sure. At this point, although I still think that HDTV version is superior to my unprofessional eye, what I will view will be a movie and not a still image and thus EE will be better in motion as it will be 1080p. In short, with this official statement, it is now clear that I will receive the best version of Lord of the Rings which would be replaced due to any defect. For people saying that they still want to hear PJ's opinion, I don't think that he can make a statement contrary to WB even if he thinks deep in his heart otherwise. |
