Um...maybe because that "studio statement" is an insult to intelligence...?

To be fair some people will never belive the new color change was intentional until Peter Jackson turns up at their house and tells them face to face, even then certain people will claim he was drunk,or being paid by Warner to claim such absurdities.

Amazing. I posted my review yesterday to wbshop.com for LotR and it's up today. Instant gratification. I would encourage those who have purchased and watched the EE BDs, particularly those who want to add screencaps, to post reviews at http://www.wbshop.com/on/demandware....pid=1000150857. You never know who might be paying attention.

I see a review from MD just below mine. Is that yours?

I wouldn't go that far, but I will say that to take a vague, non-specific PR statement from a faceless entity that doesn't mention this specific release as the gospel of Peter Jackson does make anyone who believes it rather naive.

Thanks for the info. Just did my review and hope everyone who is not happy about the green tint will take the time to post a review at the WB link!

Does the set still ship with black BD cases? I saw a review recently where he had bought the set from US and it had regular slim blue cases.

If they put regular Blu slim cases in there they will have to change the outer box to, because those will be way to small inside, I am sure they are still in the nice black cases.

By slim I meant that most US cases are slimmer vs. UK.

I find it hard to believe they've sold their entire first run, these sets have been all over the shelves at every store I've been to this week, from Wal-Mart to Best Buy to Blockbuster, even grocery stores.

I can't confirm anything but I would imagine it's the same black cases.

That's what I thought too. It is possible he 'lied' and that it was actually an European release(non-UK) which would explain the missing bbfc logos.

i think he meant the regular blu case like the five disk blade runner one.

they are the same boxes, same dimension. just a color change.

I haven't been following this thread that much lately. What happened? Though I have a feeling I might know what it was...

I think those black cases are a little bit thicker than our regular Blu cases, I could be wrong though.

edit - I just checked, these are a little thicker than our standard blue Blu-ray cases, so someone told you they switched to blue cases from the black?

I definitely agree about Peter Jackson truly caring about his legacy and his fans, and I am confident that at some point we will finally get some clarification on this matter one way or another.
You may be waiting a loooong time because I believe that, at least for the time being, the *marketing machine* has won and they’re now content in just waiting for what they view as the online ‘detractors’ to slowly wear themselves out when eventually the whole ‘problem’ will go away by itself.

I notice I forgot to mention the name of the particular person who came forward and spoke on behalf of Peter Jackson back then in responding to that past solitary internet query from that cinephile/hobbyist about the digital colorist tools used on the theatrical version of ‘The Two Towers’, back in the day. It was some fellow by the name of ……

Peter Doyle…http://www.ukscreenassociation.co.uk...s.htm?aId=3061

And for the record, Peter Doyle’s detailed response on that matter was actually quite well received by 99.9% of the members of that board.

As to the FOTR Blu-ray controversy, I really don’t think this is a case of people being *too busy*, as there are numerous examples on the internet of Producers, Directors as well as their cinematographers, camera operators, DITs, etc. giving interviews, forum postings, tweets, or Facebook entries during the course of the production of a major feature film. On the contrary, I think that PJ is quite into *social media* himself, when he desires to be.

And even if he truly is too preoccupied to offer a personal response, it’s difficult to believe that he can’t rather effortlessly, with a quick phone call, delegate this chore to someone else who was physically present in the D.I. suite during the color re-grade…..unless PJ is being handcuffed by some entity or set of circumstances.
