The extended editions are, yeah mate, just the way the DVDs were.
(And split at the same points in each film.)

Green tint... although still debatable to the severity of its actual presence...

Films split across 2 discs

Extras on DVDs

That looks like the current cheapest price but it was $40 on amazon not long ago so it is very possible that it will be that again at some point in the future.

Default Lord of the Rings fellowship of the ring extended edition disc 1

Bought the boxed set over a year ago on amazon but opened it up the first time last night sinc e I had company that never saw it and disc 1 of LOTR fellowship dos not load at all - WTF! I tried it on my oppo, panasonic, and sony, and they all say after oner a minute that the disc is unreadable. Anyone had this same problem? All of my players have the latest firmware updates.

Guess I screwed per amazon's policy. I'm F-ing pissed.

You might just have a bad disc. Try contacting Warner Brothers, they're pretty accommodating and will probably let you swap it out.

You know there's an 'edit' button, right?

Also, there's already a thread for LOTR on BD.

This could have easily been posted into the dedicated thread for the extended editions.

Disable internet connectivity on your player. A year ago I tried loading the discs in my player and they never got past that spinning disc icon because my BD player was connecting to the internet.

I have the extended editions and the theatrical editions. I was thinking about selling the theatrical. I have seen both and recall the extended is better. Is there any point in keeping both?

For one thing, if extras are important to you, they are not duplicated between versions, just as they weren't for the DVDs. Some might say that the extras for the EEs are much more substantial (with which I would agree), but for me the most coveted extra are the theatrical trailers and/or advertising materials. The extras on the EEs are much more in depth, but the lions share of the advertising stuff is on the TEs.

I don't care about extras what so ever.

I would concur with that statement. The EE seem to be your preference for film presentation, so it sounds like you have your answer of your own accord.

I know this is the Extended Edition thread, but I have a question about the individual theatrical editions.

Is there any know audio issues with the individual theatrical edition of The Fellowship of the Ring? When I was watching the film this morning, at the part where the fellowship enters the caves, there was a strange slight metallic "buzzing" noise in the background for extended periods of time, mostly at the point where Gandolf tells Frodo that Gollum has been following them. I thought it was a sound effect, but when I switched to the Spanish track it was not there.

Again, I know this is the Extended Edition thread, but it's the only LOTR thread that has frequent activity and I was hoping to get input from those familiar with the films.

I recently watched the theatrical edition Blu-ray and I did not notice any "unusual buzzing noises" during the scenes you are referring to. Have you tried playing it in another system/player?

I'm working on watching the entire trilogy, these movies just get better every time I watch them. I finished Fellowship the other day. I also agree with this being one of the best BD sets ever created. It's certainly my favorite in my collection.

Unfortunately, I dont have another player to try playback in. Is it possible that a disc manufacturing error would cause a few seconds of buzzing in only a couple scenes? I haven't found anyone else reporting on this problem and I'm not sure if I should contact Warner Bros. or WBShop.com, where I bought my copy.
