Of course , the Extended Blu-ray set is still available from retailers such as Amazon, Target and Walmart However, the Warner Bros shop doesn't have the box set listed as far as I can tell - not sure if that means anything at all but it is strange , right ? |

It is back up on wbshop.com for a mere $116.99 but ships in 10 days if interested.
I ebayed a copy the other day for $37 but didn't pay attention and found it was for the Canadian version. The seller was really great about letting me return it for a refund and I ordered a US copy for the same price. |

The packaging doesn't come with the fold out map and the cases are blue instead of black. Plus the French on everything. I have nothing against the French or French speaking Canadians I just don't want it on my packaging.

i've been thinking about upgrading my EE dvd's to blu......but i don't want the big box set.
so i've been trying to researching the individual releases online......what's the difference between the 2 disc and the 5 discs individual releases?? are the 2 disc sets just the movies?? |

Heya B-B,
Speaking only for myself, I'm really disappointed in the transfer of Fellowship onto Blu -- both the cinema cut and the EE, for different reasons. I'm not about to open up a can of dragon entrails by going into details of why -- let's just say I'm personally hoping that, now the EE of The Hobbit is complete, and the Big Box of Middle Earth that we're all expecting is likely to be announced (in a few months, I'm guessing, once the last Hobbit EE starts flagging in sales), that there might be an announced remastering of Fellowship as well. It may never happen, of course. Some, I suspect, don't feel it needs to. But to give just one person's opinion: if I were in the position of having none of them on BD, as you appear to be (LotR, anyway), then I'd be holding off a wee bit until the announcement was made and I knew what all the options were. Who knows what's in store for the "Buy It For The Umpteenth Time!" release?! ![]() In the meantime, yes, the 2-disc sets are just the movies (plus commentary). On Blu, the EE versions run over 2 discs each, to keep the video bitrates and audio options high. The 3 extras discs in the 5-discers are identical to the three extras discs in the DVD releases, so there's no need to get them, unless for some reason you want to lose the DVD versions. |
