It now looks like a sepia photo taken with an early 1900's camera
is this a screenshot from the extended blu ray?
Because it looks nothing like the others

I am just so confused about this now. Some of the new shots are amazingly crisp and detailed, and some are all fuzzy and blurry. All of them seem to have a dull greenish tint to them.

I was really excited about selling my theatrical blu-rays, and putting the money towards these, but I'm not sure now. I love the extended versions much more than the theatricals, but I really don't like that drab green look.

I may hold off until some reviews come out. It would suck to have to trade off one problem for another. I hope that the color from those new screenshots are not indicative to what the actual blu-rays will look like.

Having the oddest since of deja vu....

Didn't we go through this same exact thing when the Theatricals were released?

It could be that x264 (it's a re-encode, not the original Blu-ray) spent too much bits on the feet and not enough on the ring. You do see hints of detail on the ring; with any luck, that detail is actually present on the source Blu-ray.
Yes, note that the images posted online so far are from a reduced bitrate encode. It is a general idea of how the disc looks in terms of colour timing etc, but for sure there are compression artifacts, lost details etc. What is clear is that the EE does not suffer from the excessive use of DNR that the TE did.

It was mostly worrying about DNR, starting around page 212:

If you guys noticed, they have an individual page for each release. Which, to me, seems like they might end up selling the movies on their own. God, I really hope there is some news about just-movie release, I will die a little if I buy that shelf hog of a set.

Who is "they"? If you mean this site, there are some listings like that, that have been around for a long time, it doesn't imply that seperate releases will be available any time soon, but they might be. Who knows?

From the pics it doesn't look much bigger than 3 individual cases.

Actually, the theatricals were way too RED. Look at the sky - in the theatricals it looks almost purple. These films were bluish/greenish in the theater.

I think that maybe it means auto-set to Portuguese subtitles by the parent company that makes them for Portuguese speaking countries.

Hopefully this will make a nice birthday present for you!

LOL what a douche this is a quote from the AVS forums master Screen Shot clown Eric.EXE

"I have it on very good authority that Fellowship of the Ring indeed has an entirely new physical scan start to finish. No "new master is actually an old master with DNR" nonsense. What a clown! Why would WB say new master.

Not sure what that means exactly (that was already filled in when I updated the aud/sub languages, so I just left it there...). It might be referring to having your player set to Portuguese audio that the Port subtitles will come on automatically. (In this case, that's not true though, the Port audio will play automatically, but if there was no Port audio, then the subs would come on). Possibly it's a comment that can be removed...

You can, of course, set everything by the menus though...
