I don't mind the new color timing. I always had problems with the FOTR's color timing anyways. The shire was too gold, Moria and Lothlorien too blue. By TTT and ROTK they were doing good with Color Timing, but its obvious FOTR was their testing and learning ground.

Heh, didn't know about that... Did a comparison of one of the shots with the actual disc, and the ones being posted are slightly softer, and a little more 'contrasty' than the actual disc (i.e.: the disc looks better).

Yes, I agree with this too, and 'The Council Of Elrond' being way, way overdone in this regard. ![]() I would really like to see a new screenshot of this scene to see how much they adjusted it's color. . |

I don't know whether I like the new color, but at least they got rid of the "oil painting" look (particularly obvious in the first screenshot - 58213).
I'm no expert but the added detail looks believable to me, i.e. it definitely looks as though it's less filtered than the theatrical editions, not more. It can't all be just "added noise". |

No. Just look at the feet… it's consistent wit the rest of the screenshots.
It could be that x264 (it's a re-encode, not the original Blu-ray) spent too much bits on the feet and not enough on the ring. You do see hints of detail on the ring; with any luck, that detail is actually present on the source Blu-ray. |
