Interesting... I haven't watched my copy yet, but I find it hard to believe that when I do the picture will be that blue in those scenes.

Screencaps on a PC will look different than a TV, plus some people have more expensive/better sets that can adjust for the "blueness".

Really there's no point in doing a return. I paid $50 including shipping. They'll refund me $35 + shipping back to them. Net loss of $15 plus time and effort.

I'm annoyed enough with TT that I'd rather just throw out the disc, eat the $50 and never buy anything from them again. I didn't buy this to flip it on Ebay, it was because I loved the movie. Such a disappointment, time to move on for me.

TT couldn't bother watching the movie they were selling, I blame them not Sony.

Right, the $35 isn't worthy having

Be disappointed if you want, but you're not sending a message about THIS release by keeping it. Besides, you can get your money back on Ebay if you really wanted.

All of the people on here that are still *****ing about TT saying they will never buy anything from them again. Well I bet they eat those words when Christine comes out they will be the first people to pre order. How many times do we have to go over the fact that TT has nothing to do with the transfer and its Sony and the HD Master that they had from years ago.

I just want to say with at least my copy it is in no way as dark as the screenshots make it seem, i dont if any of the screens have been edited or not, yes its a bit darker but i think it looks gorgeous and i can say for my copy itself i see no blue tint at all. Over all im very happy with the blu ray, yes its a bit darker but i think its blown waaaay out of preportion on this board. I have the dvd, vhs and now the blu ray and im happy with all my copies and. Have loved and watched this movie tons and tons of time, so dont pull the "your not a real fan of the movie if you like the blu ray" with me.

Edit:its now into the night and the movie still looks gorgeous.
Maybe your computer screen isn't calibrated properly if you think all the screencaps of this BD on every forums and in every reviews look off

I respect everyone's opinion, but all copies are exactly the same. If you like the transfer fine...we all have our opinions and tastes, but it does have a blue tint and it is too dark (imo) and it was changed from the original theatrical presentation...do not buy into all of the double talk. If it does match the original theatrical presentation then either TT, Savini, the director of photography, or Sony should state that as a FACT. "Expert" opinions mean zilch, specially with a dozen disclaimers included in them. Well, it is "supervised", the director likes it, ect...great testimonails. My rule: always pay attention to what is NOT being said. Carry own .

Everything depends on your setting. It's still rather dark and muted, no matter what, but much better after playing around with the cinema settings. Some of the worst screenshots ARE what the movie looks like, if you're just popping it in on standard mode. I'll never be happy with it, but it isn't as bad as when I originally saw this disc. Made me feel better about it anyway...

Officially mailed mine off today.

I have some friends who mentioned the cinema mode working to make it Better on their tvs but my TV doesnt have that setting. I messed around with every setting I could and while I could pretty much get rid of the blu, it was still dark and not like how I enjoy the movie.

So I sold it and thats the end for me.

To those that held onto it, enjoy. No matter what its still a great movie. Just a matter of preference, and I would just rather watch my dvd. Ill still hold out hope it gets another release some day. Maybe overseas or something.

Also I took the money I made off of it and put it towards Resident Evil 6. Zombies for zombies. Fair trade.

Just keep your blu's and chill out. I doubt this is the first poor transfer that anyone has paid for. We all have stacks of discs with Poor transfers and crap audio. Its a twilight time release, not criterion.

Actually, they are about neck and neck price wise. Cheapest Criterions are around $20 when B&N has a 40-50% off sale. Criterions at BB are usually $30.
Criterions full list price is $40. Remember, TT is charging full list price here as they are sold as limited editions.

Watch it, maybe you will like it. You can always sell the viewed copy for over $50 here or in eBay. Nothing to lose.

Exactly, 100 times over. People commenting on accurately-captured screengrabs and then saying "It doesn't look like this on my TV!!!" is asinine. It very well might not, but that does not change the fact that is precisely the data stored on the disc. That is literally the frame that is on the disc, unless it was captured incorrectly (and by now it's crystal clear these screencaps, taken by multiple people all replicating an identical result, were not.). How it looks on your TV is down to how your specific TV is calibrated and how your own set of eyes perceive the image, but to somehow claim the screengrabs themselves are some elaborate conspiracy and aren't "accurate" is pure foolishness.

manta, don't take the discussion here personally.

The screenshots posted here very well may look different to you compared with how the disc looks on your television. No one is saying you're not seeing what you personally see nor is the discussion directed at you. However, that doesn't change the fact that screen captures taken directly from the disc are an accurate representation of what's on the disc. The reason why some people see the screenshots differently compared to when they view the disc on their television is because other variables are in play. To make an accurate comparison those variables must be eliminated. First, and foremost, are you viewing the screen shots and the blu-ray disc on the same display; that's a common variable which can affect how images are displayed? Software media players, blu-ray players, receivers, etc (even different inputs on the same device) all have settings/options which can directly effect how an image appears to the user. If both image sources aren't being viewed through the same chain of equipment/software then it's very likely the two sources could look different even though they are one and the same.
