Savini has replied to me before via email, so by him not replying shows me he wants no part of this discussion. He was polite to me previously via his quick response email to me. If I was at one of these conventions, I would ask him. I do wish people who are on these forums and who have seen him in person, would have just asked Savini. Just like if I saw Romero in person, I would ask him why he signed off on the cropped Dimension transfer of NOTLD 1968. So I won't be buying a TT blu-ray of NOTLD 1990. I'll just wait. |

Honestly, does it matter to anyone if -- after the fact -- Savini looked at this and thought it looked fine?
He didn't work with anyone to make these changes. They were made without his consultation. I think they look idiotic, as do many others. If he watched it and loves it, or if he just doesn't want to rock the boat so he's saying "fine"... how does this impact anything? Someone at the studio messed with the movie without his input. If he retroactively says "hey, looks cool" that doesn't change my experience. |

If Tom Savini didn't like the transfer, there was nothing he could've done about it anyway. Actually, I don't think he really cared, what they did with his movie, as long as he got paid. Tom Savini is through with Night of the Living Dead.

Savini doesn't care about NOTLD 1990 anymore, just like Romero doesn't care about NOTLD 1968. As for getting paid, just like Savini endorsed the TT release, Romero endorsed the cropped Dimension transfer. So draw your own conclusions. |

One thing I never got was why did Helen just let her daughter bite her? I know it's her kid and all, maybe it wasnt a conscious decision to do so and she was just in shock. I just expect someone to put up a little bit of a fight.

I always thought Helen was just week, blindly following her idiot husband and didn't have much if any fight in her, so it kind of makes sense. Plus the shock of seeing your daughter up after she had been down so long. All parents hope for the best for their children, sometimes with fatal consequences. ![]() |

Can a telephone recieve, transmit and replicate the sound from a high end audio system? No. Can a computer connectec to the internet losslessly transmit information from one place to another? Yes. A better analogy for you is "It's like me telling you how awesome this lossless rip of a cd sounds on my high end audio equipment and then you listening to it on your tinny computer speakers and complaining that its not accurate to the cd" |

I emailed another email to Savini including my story A Smurf Tale. If thus doesn't get a response, nothing will. Don't expect Shakespeare but here is my email to him(A Smurf Tale omitted as this post will then get deleted)
"Hi Tom, First off I still would like to say I am a big fan of your special effects work and your acting in various films. I've read posts that some people may think you are an ******* and others think you are a nice guy. I am sure making appearances at various conventions must get tiring and I am sure there may be people who deliberately are rude or push boundries to try and get a negative reaction out of you. I've never met you, but I can say that the horror genre has grown because of your work. And I hope you continue your acting career which I am sure you will. I am so far away from any horror convention as I am in the Frozen North of Edmonton Canada. Doing more research into the whole darkening of your NOTLD 1990 transfer, got me a whole lot more information on the subject including comments made by the DP about the tinting. People are quite passionate about NOTLD 1990. It really is a classic and awesome movie and of course very scary as well. It is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. For myself, I like how the movie started out during a nice sunny day. It actually makes the movie more horrific as the gore of the two cemetery zombies is easily seen. And as day passes into night things get worse and worse for the survivors in the farm house. It is my understanding that you nor the dp supervised the transfer and the tinting, so although you or he may have wanted the film darkened, I don't think you or him would have darkened it this much. I was told the dp gave instructions over the phone to the studio tech on how to darken the transfer. I can email you the jpegs of the text from the dp if you would like that I found on the internet. I am guessing you are tired of this topic. I am really curious about your thoughts though. Really, very few people have had or will ever have the career you have had and still have. So thank you for your contributions to the zombie and horror genres. Below is a silly story I wrote about the blue tinting of the NOTLD transfer, that some equate to smurfing(blue tinting) of the transfer. I hope you get a laugh out of the story. It is meant as a silly story and not to be taken seriously. Thanks again, Charles" |
