Maybe Sony would give some of these titles a whirl on UHD disc, at least those that were 4K scans for blu-ray. It would probably still be pressed in relatively limited numbers - but there might be some interest for Sony to use some of these *if* they plan on throwing some random catalog out there for the launch of UHD disc.

Usually a studio backs up the scan before the additional work has been done to it that way they could go back to it if need be. However that would involve them going back and retiming it yet again so it still wouldn't be exactly like the old master but it could be better if done right. The problem I see is that Sony already put money into the current restoration so I highly doubt they would allocate the funds for yet another remaster for a B-movie like NOTLD '90. Crazier things have happened though so it still remains to be seen.

I do wonder if some known remasters like Die Hard ware waiting on UBD to come to market. Not because they would be UBD exclusive (that would be insane), but for combo-pack and cross-marketing reasons. Some of Sony's 4k remasters could definitely be in the same boat.

It's also just as likely Sony put out a quick BD for titles TT sold out of quickly though, or license them to someone who offered more like Scream or Arrow.

Unfortunately, I think all we will see from UBD in the first year or so will be top tier titles. The same ones we've all seen rereleased about a zillion times. Maybe somewhere down the road they will start going to the catalog but not right away.

It's a damn shame the premium movie channels like Encore Suspense are starting to show this hd twilight time version with the dark lighting color tint. I can barely see anything when watching it. I couldn't stand watching it. I had to watch something else. It's a crime.

That sucks gjk. Id hate having to watch a version like that.

I still own the DVD*. Somehow I still have it in my collection. An unrated cut on BR should be the way to go.

*I stole it Shame on me. My evil ways have cursed me with the correct color tint.

Yep that would be nice but I'm afraid we will wait a while for that to get released. I do have the HD version on VUDU though and it looks great.

With Sony themselves re-releasing Christine, I hope they do the same with NotLD '90. I've always thought the movie looked ridiculously bright for what it was, and would like to see this darker transfer. But I don't do Twilight Time. I much prefer when Sony licenses to Mill Creek, who put out affordable product without the "limited edition" nonsense.

It doesn't quite work, it just looks like part of the film that was in daylight on the old DVD look like cheap day for night on the Blu. So while it might address what some see as a continuity issue (day suddenly becoming night) with the original grading it just adds something else that spoils the illusion of reality.

The straw that broke the camels back for me were the missing sound effects on the 5.1 track with no original audio option to compensate. That got largely ignored while people argued about it being too blue or not too blue.

So I sold it (got back what I paid) and kept the old DVD until someone made a better effort.

Yes it does, other than the dirt in the beginning of the film. I would love to have seen that version restored and a lossless encode of that correct original 5.1 soundtrack.

Never mind, I just read that this may be a bootleg as the booklet is just text from Wikipedia, there is a DivX watermark on the screen in one place and the picture is heavily compressed.

I just read that the main feature is only 9gb. DivX watermark should be visible right in the beginning for about 6 seconds or so.

Hopefully Vudu won't ever update their HD version. I can't stand the dark blue tint. Does anyone know if the iTunes HD version is the old or the new HD master?

I wonder if Twilight Time would be willing to re-release this if they could get Sony to send them the older master that's available via streaming?

Was this the release that some of the fans complained about that Savini thought was incredible?

Yeah Savini enthusiastically approved which seems odd to me.
