Umbrella generally only provides English subs for non-English films, though they have included them on the odd release here and there, so anything's possible. For now though my guess would be: No, it will not have English subtitles.

They stated previously that the 1990 version has English subs but the 1968 version does not.

I wouldn't worry. Once they ship, it takes 4 to 6 weeks for me to get my movies. I also received an order from them in under two weeks, that was the only time I've received a package from them that quickly. Patience, grasshopper.

I guess we'll see if it really is 2 separate orders, but since JB often ships out of multiple store/warehouses it wouldn't surprise me. Marking 4/22 on the calendar and see if the show up before or after.
Let us know if that edition of "Alien Nation" is region free when it arrives. I love that movie and it'd be great to have on BD.

I have the Happinet release of the original, and if I'm not mistaken, the only difference between the regular and limited editions of this new release is that the limited edition includes a blu-ray of the original film. Correct?

Here's why I feel confident that it'll end up being region free:

1. He advertised it in the North American area of the site.
2. There would be no reason to remain silent on the subject if the disc was locked.

BTW - I just checked the site and the limited edition is now listed as "Almost Gone." Just an FYI for anyone on the fence about getting it.

Can't wait to watch me some NOTLD '90, not to mention the new interviews.

I look at that as the main reason it might be locked. If it was region free wouldn't he proclaim it so it would increase sales? Unless he's keeping quiet because they were supposed to lock it and they're not?

Not if it might get him in hot water with the people who own the distribution rights in other countries and/or the content owners. Better to keep quiet and just let it go out in the wild than to advertise it and risk getting forced to lock it. I mean, he did advertise it in the NA area, which definitely increased sales regardless of a lack of confirmation on the region code.

Could be. Or maybe it's one of those things where he just doesn't want to rock the boat and risk engendering ill will with companies he'll have to do business with in the future.

Let's put it this way - it would be one helluva dick-move for someone to advertise a release in the NA area of the site and refuse to answer direct questions about the region code knowing the title really is locked. I would be genuinely surprised if that turned out to be the case.

This is the most logical reason. There are plenty of other labels from multiple countries that participate on this site, some might be wanting to licence this title themselves, espcially with all the fuss over this release, it draws attention. There may not be any pressure from Sony to region lock it. However, if Umbrella publicly announced that the title would be region free, all it would take is for another label not to like this and to complain to Sony about it in the 7 or so weeks leading up, and it could have caused it to change. Impatience could have cost region A members, as well as Umbrella. If the disc is region free then it's for region A members own good that the region coding hasn't been publicly specified. Holding this info back won't have much, if any, impact on sales, the people that were interested 6-8 weeks ago will still be interested now.

It's probably just coincidence. There is already a dedicated thread for the Umbrella releases in the Australian section of the site, but since people started posting about that release in this thread (thank you all!), he probably just started cross posting some of the the same info here.
