I ordered this from Best Buy US as soon as it was confirmed that it's not blue and is region-free. I didn't even know you could buy imported blu-rays through Best Buy.
In less than 24 hours though, the page for the film has gone from having a "Pre-Order" button to a grey-ed out unclickable "Coming Soon." Did they run out? What's up? Hopefully my order is fulfilled.
They should, they all seem to be 480i/60. Just so you know even 1080i extras can have trouble over there if it's 1080i/50. None of these seem to be though.

I have the Japanese version of the original film, but I still ordered the limited dual pack here, just for the cover art and spine really. Always annoyed me to have Japanese on the spine of the first movie in the series, so now I can having "Night of the Living Dead" on the shelf before Day, Dawn and Land. Anal collector stuff I know, but what are ya gonna do?
If the JP disc is better I'll swap it in the case with the Umbrella disc.

You obviously mean before Dawn, Day and Land. I don't mind the Japanese spine, I always thought Japanese letters look cool, the only other Japanese edition I own is Poltergeist II. I will put the standalone of Night of the Living Dead in my Romero section as well, given he produced it and was involved with it.
I hope we'll get some more Romero movies on blu-ray; Martin, Bruiser, Season of the Witch, There's Always Vanilla are long overdue for a proper release.
Very cool that it's region-free What's the transfer like compared to the Twilight Time release (aside from there being no blue tint on this release, obviously)?

It looks sofa king good...
Edit: The bonus disc (68 version) is however full of 50hz material.

Hmm, I ordered this fully expecting that I'd only be able to play it on my Oppo. Knowing I've got a little bit more freedom with it is a nice surprise...
So I guess Amazon doesn't price match on movies anymore? What happened to that tell us about a lower price thingy?
$25 is ridiculous. I can get it shipped from Australia for cheaper.
Imports almost always cost more on Amazon. The lower price option wouldn't work on this either. It barely worked for local competitors when it was there..

No love for Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead? I still hope that George still has it in him to do the 2 movies he said he'd do after Survival, despite the love for Romero's post-Dawn movies dwindling. Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead is all great and all, but I would still love to see the Godfather of Dead at least put some closure on his contribution to cinema history since the plans are for his son to take over and do a prequel series?

Oh, I own both Diary and Survival. But nah not much love from me. I loved the scope and characters of Land, but even by then the series had become very stale. It's fairly obvious that Romero got to ride the Danny Boyle "28 days later" gravy train, so in fact he already got to do his Godfather of Dead movies "Land - Diary - Survival". I'll give Diary some props for trying something new but Survival was bad.
The last great movie Romero did IMO is the often overlooked Bruiser. I get that Romero was offered these zombie movies but his strength has always been that he went in and out of the genre over the course of his career. Doing 3 in a row was overkill.
I like Land, I think it was good. This is probably because Romero had years to think about what he'd do with a new Zombie movie (plus he had a really good budget, and I think it actually shows up on screen). With Diary and Survival I think he was a little too rushed and wasn't able to really come up with anything as good as his other films...still I like them, but they are the weakest of his Zombie films. I think Survival could've turned out better with a bigger budget and a better script.
Count me in as a lover of Land... too. It's a great film, and worthy of sitting alongside Night, Dawn and Day as part of the series. I did like Diary, but as you say, it was obvious there were budget cuts and it seemed a little rushed.
