The directing will more or less take care of itself...what I want? A great SCRIPT and a great STORY, otherwise, this is all dry lightning. Give Spielberg or Jackson a bad script, you get a well-directed bad movie. The films need to be well-written, based on a great concept and a fun plot, or this is a waste of everyone's time. See Pirates 2 and Pirates 3.

The prequels will be entirely ignored in the new sequels, mark my words. Disney knows fans what spiritual successors to the original trilogy, not anything associated with the prequels. I would expect to see many familiar characters from episodes IV to VI in the sequels, including an older Han Solo.

A James Cameron Star Wars with an even crabbier gun-toting Leia?

One of the very, very, very, very few things. And only for a couple pages, but still.

Luke, Han, and Leia will be mere cameos in these. Luke will probably have the biggest role from the old cast, as the new Head Jedi MFIC, but don't look for any of them to be leading roles.

I was thinking James Cameron would be cool, then I got scared, plus he's probably neck-deep in Avatar stuff for a good while yet...

If Spielberg takes a pass...Disney should look to:

Gore Verbinski
Martin Campbell
Joe Johnston
JJ Abrams
Brad Bird

I was talking with my dad about Lucas selling and they're the some age. We wondered about the timing. Could Lucas be ill?
