[Show spoiler]Honestly, that plot point would have been better served as a way to wrap up the new trilogy, giving an awesome send off to the past and setting up the future.

[Show spoiler]There's still plenty other characters that could die at the end of the trilogy. Remember in the PT and OT both we have big characters that die in the first film (Qui-Gon in TPM and Obi-Wan in ANH), then some that die in the third (Mace and Padmé in ROTS, Yoda and Anakin/Vader in ROTJ... plus a few villains if they count). Maybe some big heroic death for Luke? Would be depressing as all hell to lose another one from the old gang though.
