Give me a break. Every character is rumored to have a Force ghost appearance these days. A standalone Obi Wan film? I'm down. Enough with the ghost rumors though - they are ridiculous and highly unlikely.

Salacious Crumb's Force Ghost is very annoying.

If Ewan's back in town tomorrow for the Crieff Highland Games I'll ask him about this!
He's probably swore to secrecy though

Gutted!
He wasn't there. His brother was up and so was his uncle, Denis Lawson. He was up a couple weeks ago so he's obviously very busy. Maybe next year

This one is worse.

"Padme: We used to come here for school retreat. We would swim to that island every day. I love the water. We used to lie out on the sand and let the sun dry us and try to guess the names of the birds singing.

Anakin: I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.

Agreed. Its parts like this and the one mentioned above from AOTC that almost completely take me out of movie/s. Now I understand the dialogue in the Star Wars films has never been amazing (minus the way it created chemistry between characters) but this was so bad it makes you wonder what the person was thinking writing it.

...and to watch Christensen and Portman deliver these lines? *shudder* Imagine how they felt saying/reciting that crap!

No doubt that the love story dialog was brutal. The only part of the prequels that was handled worse was the relationship between Obi Wan and Anakin. This was arguably the most important freindship to build up and they did a terrible job with it. We had to be told they were friends. They couldnt stand each other from the get go and I never felt they had that great of a friendship. That poor handling of this is what makes their overly-long duel at the end of EP3 have way less impact than it should have had. It was cool and somewhat tragic but it should have been incredibly tragic and gut wrenching. Oh well.

Not sure how much you enjoy cartoons, but maybe give 'The Clone Wars' series a go. It's canon, and does a better job at showing their friendship than the films ever did.

Palpatine is such a bad-ass character that I would love to be molested by his dark side.

I concur. The Clone Wars will make you believe what old Ben says on Tatooine about Anakin and him being good friends.

You guys do remember that they are going to be making a shit ton of Star Wars movies now, right? It's not just Episode VII-IX. There will be all kinds of unique and original Star Wars films, possibly even between the main episode films according to the original announcements.

Personally, I'm really glad they are putting the original cast back in. Potentially, this trilogy will be a much better send-off to the original characters than Return of the Jedi was (I mean, I like RotJ, but it ends with a campfire dance with teddybears...)

I agree. The cartoon really helps Ep 3 out a whole lot more than Ep 2 ever did.

TWC makes the prequels better. Infact, they are better than the prequels (except ROTS, I still hold that on a mantle).

I'm getting less excited about this film.

I was hoping with Disney and JJ taking over that we could forget the mistakes of the past and move on with some different direction, a fresh new start, with this IP.

Instead we're tying ourselves to the old movies and possibly repeating old mistakes (e.g., replacing the original old actors with the prequel ones).

No-one has said anything about the prequel actors so they're just rumours.

If Obi-Wan was to return then they could only use Ewan McGreggor because Alec Guiness is dead, so they'd have no choice but to replace Guiness.

This. I can't understand how anyone would logically have a problem with it. If they need to use Obi-Wan in the story they want to tell then, unless they recast, McGregor is the only option. Anyone who has a problem with them using him over Guiness is just trying to find "problems".

+100 I agree. He was IMO the best thing in the prequels. I would look forword to seeing any of the prequel actors return. (Especially McGregor and McDiarmid)

We were shocked that Disney had no Star Wars news to give at the D23 convention, not even a release date. We know that Episode VII is scheduled for 2015, and we assume that it's coming out in May, the usual Star Wars month. But what if it isn't? What if Episode VII still comes out in 2015 but breaks the Star Wars release mold?

Multiple sources have told me that right now Disney and Lucasfilm have December circled on their calendars, with a mid-month release - the 15th - being most likely. That would take Star Wars out of the crowded summer and, more importantly, give JJ Abrams and company a couple more months to work on a movie that's already running a tighter schedule than most of the other Star Wars films.

Why haven't they announced this? Possibly with a big 'We're giving you a Christmas gift' campaign? If I had to guess it's because they're not even sure JJ will make that date. They could push it back all the way to actual Christmas. Or perhaps it gets pushed out of 2015 altogether. That's obviously a last resort, as Alan Horn took the stage at D23 and recomittted to 2015.

Every single other Star Wars movie has been released in May, so moving to December is, symbolically, a big deal. It takes the movie out of what promises to be a bloody, ugly summer. And it gives Abrams and company more time to get the movie made. I'm all for it.

As Disney already have May tied up with Avengers 2 then it makes sense not to go with the traditional May release. Plus they have their own Inside Out (the new Pixar) and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 in June and July and I'm sure they dont want Star Wars to get in their way (not to mention the fact that summer 2015 is crowded enough as it is). Thanksgiving is taken up with Finding Dory so that only really leaves a Christmas release, akin to those of LOTR, Avatar and The Hobbit films.
