[Show spoiler]With rumors surrounding the fact that Luke may have been captured and tortured, basically with what is left of the Empire in ruins trying to unlock his potential, it could be they finally broke him and pushed him. It's not that much of a stretch. It's not a huge betrayal to the series, and done correctly, could be a major turning point for the sequel trilogy.

I don't know why you guys are using the spoiler tags over a possible Evil Luke as we were discussing this stuff openly only just a few pages back. I'll say again what I said there... I just don't buy it. The film is supposed to be a "proper send-off" for the OT characters. Luke is a branded character, like Han Solo...Lucas wrote the outlines for all three sequels. The guy who didn't want Han Solo to shoot first is going to turn around and make Luke evil?

Just don't buy it. Sounds more like a classic Abrams misdirection campaign. Luke passes the biggest test of his life only to turn around and go with the yellow eyeballs? Naah. We shall see. Abrams is going to be screwing with people right up until the final trailer. That's what he does. SW7 is locked down so tight, I wouldn't believe anything right now. Real leaks are going to happen, especially when outside agencies like toy companies and publishing houses start getting their hands on information (Millennium Falcon.net took most of their spoilers by getting their hands on the novelization of Revenge of the Sith and then dribbling them out)...but right now? Take it all with a big boulder of salt.

It doesn't sound like anyone likes the concept of Darth Luke, but if they could construct a believable reason for his turn (unlike the one constructed for Anakin), I could dig it. Though the more I think about it, Occam's Razor says this cyborg is Adam Driver's character. As Sith-obsessed, aristocrat, and possible relative of Count Dooku so infatuated with Darth Vader he has had experimental surgery to make himself in his "hero's" image.

[Show spoiler]Basically saying the twist ending of the movie will be Luke Skywalker revealed as the villain. This would annoy me SO much, just taking a giant piss on the entire plot of the original trilogy.
This is what they want - something to create controversy. While they did do it in the expanded universe, doing it again here seems like a cheap way out. Is it a genetic thing that they can't help cut do it? Was Vader actually right and now Luke sees the corruption that wasn't there before when Vader was around? Lots of ways you could go but because of Hollywood doing all these twist endings over the years, it just feels cheap. If anything, it should happen in the second or third movie.

Luke is old. He is not going to be a sith or kill
[Show spoiler]Han
. And if the latter happens, unless it's an accident, I will hate this series, no matter how flashy they make it.

I agree with this, and to me it makes more sense that Luke kept what was left of Vader's suit after he burned his body and someone is trying to steal it now, the helmet or whatever. And that character wants to use it to "resurrect " Vader through himself. eh, they didn't ask me to write it though

I smell a fake leak to get people both on the wrong track -and- talking about the movies.

If it was true, it would be
[Show spoiler]far too similar to the plot of the other movies with a Skywalker falling to the Dark Side, and eventually rescued... potentially by his own son/ daughter/ nephew.

I agree, probably just a false trail.
Although I could, kind of, buy into the this happening...as Vader said: "The circle is now complete". Well knowing JJ, he could twist that all around, and put forth the theory that the circle is never complete. It's just that: A circle. A circle, that keeps going around & around, generation after generation.
A vicious circle!

I think a novelization of ROTJ said Vader disappeared and Luke burned the armor, but we don't see it in the films, and the ROTJ novelization also said Owen Lars was Obi-Wan Kenobi's brother, Luke and Leia's mother died when they were four years old, and Anakin had no idea she was pregnant.

Thank you for posting this, as I thought I had missed something all these years. I always took it Luke burned Anakin with his armor on, as a warrior's tribute.

I'm not saying it's a narrative stretch, I'm saying it betrays the whole story of the original trilogy. There is no victory in RotJ if Luke immediately goes back on everything he did there.

Yeah, I don't buy it. It wouldn't just betray the OT, but the whole damn saga.

Luke will be evil and angry people will be leaving the theater and in California George Lucas will be sitting on a throne laughing maniacally.

Remember guys, this is all just informed speculation at this point though it seems to jive with what other web sites heard but choose to not publish.

The production art paints a picture of it being a real possibility however. There's a decent amount of pics that would have had to have been painted to stage a fake leak.

I'm praying these are like the leaks they fed to David Prowse during ESB.
