Does Panasonic not also do BD-50 production now? I know I've seen it but can't remember a source............
So our friend D.V. is now over at HDD?
If he’s over there, then I would assume that since AVS has clogged up the red ant hill and prevented the red ants from *acting out online* that he has been accompanied by the usual infamous suspects…..rdjam, Lee Stewart, Kosty, plazaman, etc?...........in one last attempt to form a new front by the red army?

Or perhaps they just found a new sandbox to play in.

I just don’t understand this fixation with BD50 replication. I think that the take home message should be to anyone that is without bias and interested in this aspect of the business (perhaps film aficionados thinking of financing their own BD50 replication line in their spare time? ) is that yield rates are not a problem and now aren’t even relevant in the grand picture, nor have they been so for quite some time. Also, the cost of replication has not been an obstacle for publishing in the Blu-ray format for any major Hollywood studio.

For the record, Panasonic is capable of producing BD50’s and more and more companies will do so in time.

If Mr.Vaughn is so concerned about high-def optical discs and the experience of a home theater enthusiast (being a movie reviewer) shouldn’t he be exposing what company does the vast, vast majority of encodes for Universal given the fact that the EE, DNR *****fest thread they have over on AVS consists of a list of titles 80-90% or so coming solely from Universal…….rather than spending his time running after replication lines.

The lack of priorities is just mind boggling.

All info DV gets about Blu will be a few months out of date, especially about replication where people will be wary about talking to him.
Can I ask, why would DV, or his sources, post such things if they are so easilly refutable?

Are they so desperate they have to bring up yields and BD50 production problems once again, I guess this, combined with the dubious Graffeo HP/Bourne numbers, tells you they have little positive news to latch onto!

Well, I never said we have to see bare butt.
I mean panty hose, black panties etc. will do.

And she had better not dilly-dally either because I just may give that size small official Blu-ray jacket to a dirty blonde* that you guys should be seeing on Easter Eggs of upcoming Blu-ray discs several months from now……..once the papers are signed.

P.S.
*Since I’m a techno type guy, the model’s pic was shot with a 20, I say twenty mega-pixel camera, something your typical camera dude doesn’t own.

Also, congrats on the e-bay win.
It's a fine jacket esp. for your neck of the woods.

Because red idiots do not need facts.
They take bullet points and run with them and anyone who tries to point to facts are shills and fanbois.
It has been their battle plan for the longest time now.
They know there are plenty of people who will buy into their crap on their word, they also know there are plenty of biased sites who love posting biased crap fact or fiction and then when it is proven wrong retractions are not to be found.

The issues with the Universal releases is from DTS Images (formerly Lowery). They stated in the past that the level of clean up they do has different tiers that cost different amounts. The titles from Universal that look bad have all been cleaned up by DTS but obviously they didn't use the better tier for it.

Many thanks; I'm looking forward to getting it. Will post a pic when I get it. I'm guessing the 20mp camera is the Canon EOS 1D? Very nice...

Engadget has just posted the NVS results from the week of 12/16

1.56:1 in favor of Blu

http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/12/28...ding-december/

Now, what is this easter egg that Penton hinted about a few posts back?

Universal takes the full blame however, no matter who they contract the work out to. Their name is on it and that's what people will know, not that DTS Images did the work.

I didn’t hint anything, I’m telling you ………(and mystik to get her butt in gear!)
Are you aware of the Easter Eggs that some Blu-ray discs have?……..
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/pira...hest.html#eggs

Well, people just finished up a photo shoot with a very attractive dirty blonde model -a pic of which will be an Easter Egg on some future Blu-ray discs in several months.

I’ll try to give you a heads-up on the first title to hunt for it/her in due course.

Is Maya going to become an Easter Egg?

The other thing that's pissing me off about all of this stuff is the fact that while they spew out so called BD yield percentages as being terrible, yet HD DVD yields are high, etc , etc... is the fact that I've asked, "Well , What constitutes a good disc here?"

Because honestly, the number of layer change problems, combo problems and general playback issues I've had with the format are mind boggling.

You've got an open poll over @ AVS that has over 20% of people having problems with Ultimatum.

So either the laser pickups in the HD DVD players are crapola, or they are very lax in what they define as "yield."

And I guarantee you that 20% figure is very conservative as many HD DVD supporters will not admit they have problems. Many of them see Toshiba or Universal as doing no wrong.

Ha, you know your people. Everyone one of them except Plazman is there. Lee Stewart being thhe latest addition (well, he was going by a different name for awhile so it's not that recent...but he reverted to his regular name).

I guarantee you he's there too, under an alias.
