You can take my posts from last night however you please, lots of it though is not from any specific meeting, but through lots of hard work and time working with our contacts and being the most informed and up to date we possibly can be.

If you expect everything, you can never be caught off-guard.

Edit: What P-Man just said, beat me to the punch by three minutes...
Dude im with you, i just posted whats going on across forums. Its a weird 24 hours.

Rock on, baby! It's nice to hear they've learned from past mistakes.

No need to answer, but I'll just comment that I get the above impression and it is reassuring

while we've seen other insiders "re-assigned" in their real world positions it seems that your biggest worry is being banned from "neutral" forums.

Which at BOTH of my local Best Buys is nearly complete, if they put all of their BDs in 1 aisle, it would fill all but one section.

I hate stuff like this, because it gets me all excited, and then I spend another hour on the forum.

Thanks for all the great info Penton and Max. It's going to be crazy building up to CES!

Can we save the "what would happen if WB went with HD DVD" laymen's discussion for a non-insider thread? page after page of non-insiders debating back/forth is getting old!

I thought you might enjoy this comment:

1.) More bloody format wars - HD DVD or Blu-ray? Blu-ray or HD DVD? The war is still a-raging 12 months on from the last CES, where LG launched the world's first multi-format player. With both camps holding conferences exploding in propaganda even Goebbels would be proud of, every CES-goer's orifice will be crammed, bammed, and thank-you m'am-ed to breaking point. If a clear winner isn't announced by the 10th of January, or if yet another company joins LG and Samsung with their fence-sitting multi-format players, I'll...I'll...I'll delay flogging my DVD player on eBay for another few months. The format wars at CES will be very bloody indeed.

Now if you guys only had a defense like Blu-ray.

Is that the reigning NBA Champs San Antonio Spurs we're talking about here?

GUYS,

TAKE IT TO THE WARNER THREAD.

A mod has already cleaned recent posts once. Please spare us the drudgery of coming back to check updates in this thread only to find laymen-debate about Warner this and warner that.

There's a thread waiting for you on just that topic!

Permit me to borrow an insider's hat for a moment and answer this one, since it's quite straight forward: A downloadable audio track alone would be impossible, as there are different cuts and scene lengths. An alternate video could in theory be provided as a download to fix those scenes, but it would take up a lot more than the space available to 1.1 players, and perhaps even for 2.0. So no, I don't think it would happen.

I also don't think you'll see an exchange program as the BD has not been marketed as the unrated version, and there's technically nothing "wrong" with it. It probably wouldn't hurt to send Fox a snail mail suggesting it though (or an alternate model - discount on the unrated version if you trade in the PG13).

To add to that, it is almost even worse in the unrated version.
Alot of the swears do not seem to match up either audio and visually.

I made the mistake of making a small reply to someone in the same post as a question to the Insiders, and I guess the Mods got a happy trigger finger.

Insiders, I'm not sure how much you can say here, but I would love a (hypothetical) opinion:

While any move by WB to Blu-ray exclusivity would surely put pressure on Universal to at least go neutral, could Microsoft's (apparent) change in attitude toward HD DVD help Universal's "allegiance" to HD DVD weaken, hypothetically?

Since you have that hat on, maybe you can also answer my question... I am not talking about any specific movie, but in general: would it be possible to write a downloadable BD-J program packaged with tiny (seconds, split seconds) audio and video fragments to provide seamless brunching that will do the rating upgrade/downgrade/"un-grade" to the movie?

They were the one who supposedly had a source saying that one of the blu studios was going neutral ( I think that was the rumor...it was one of the ones that was talked about in here) back on hdd a little while back.
Excuse me? I've never mentioned a Blu studio going neutral. You must be confused with HDNOW. Get your facts straight before you make up shit. I support both formats equally and really don't see any Blu studios moving.
