Thanks, ^ most of the press conferences are hosted at the manufacturer's LV Convention Center exhibits (booths). Press day is one to two days before CES opens, so it's a VIP private hands on experience with all of the factory engineers and product management. You also get a one-on-one interview opportunity with the top management of all departments.
Plus..... Throughout the week of Jan 6th every major/premium manufacturer has private off site suites with the new products demonstrated and the same top engineering and product management execs to speak directly with. Lucky I'm also invited to these private off site demo suites. Here's just one of my interviews at LGE's 2017 private suite with LGE's top executive, Neil Robertson, the gentleman in charge of all things technical regarding video. https://www.facebook.com/robert.zohn...user_video_tab |

Just posted by E6AtmosVuduDV, but wanted to repost this breaking article that says Sony is "planning to unveil an 8K television, 8K processing platform, 8K laser projector, and either an 8K camera or 8K camcorder at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas".
The link goes to an online site, Tecnowise and it's actually quoting another site, "Sony Alpha Rumors" that says Sony will announce all of this at their CES Press Conference. Thanks E6AtmosVuduDV for the find, hope some if not all of it comes through. I'll be at Sony's press conference and more importantly I'll be buying all of these devices for myself personally. |

Oh brother... 4K... then 8K... maybe 16K in a few more years. Where does it all end?!? I'll just wait until they introduce a 1 GB TV... and I can step into the TV itself and interact with the actors in the movie or TV show. The way things are going, maybe that will be in 2030... if we all still alive then and global warming hasn't destroyed all life on this planet as we know it.

Panasonic will be showcasing a new processing chip, the HCXPro. Really interested to see if they have an updated 4k BD Player for 2nd half 2019. I'd be more than happy to throw down on an updated version and sell off my Ub820 to a friend.

If Panasonic released tellies next year that do both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, like their players, then I'd be mighty tempted.

Human vision needs 50K , it corresponds to image you see in a miror. But to light this image and manage the colors is another story ! And about the global warming, seriously it does exist everywhere in the world. I see it everyday, it's getting hotter and hotter. So I will wait a bit longer before buying a new TV, a new smartphone, a new car, a new... What ever it is, it has to be "useful" and must last as long as the 20th century electric and electronic equipments (I still use them everyday....). My recent cell phone is starting to fall apart... But all other equipements made before 2000, including TV screens (yes !) and PC are still working ! What age we are living in ![]() |

I know it's not much to go by, but this Italian site mentions a rumor concerning a Sony 98" and either an 82" or 85" 8K LCD TV. If true, I'm really curious whether Sony will go all the way again Z9D style regarding peak brightness/backlight/local dimming/black level/contrast. |

It's worth bearing in mind that Sony's first commercially available 4K TV was also an 84" behemoth which cost $25K (!). Even if this upcoming 8K set is the true ZD9 successor it won't be affordable, not for me anyway, nor do I have anything like the room for an 84" set so the wait for the ZD9 killer goes on. I can't see them unveiling another <84" premium LCD line in January seeing as the "master" series has only been out for a few months.

Because of the less than positive reception the Z9F received, perhaps Sony is giving their 2019 stragety a second thought and we just might see a new worthwhile 65-75" premium high end LCD being announced at CES after all? If Sony really is in touch with their customers, they would need to do such a thing IMHO.
If I am going to replace my 75Z9D however, I would need it to be an 85". And ofcourse it will have to outperform the ZD9 also. ![]() |

I doubt it. While Sony would've been stung by the reaction to the ZF9 (I admired Robert's enthusiasm for it at the time, but the people have spoken) I think they were hoping to keep it on a 2-year cycle, so it may be too late to come up with a genuine 'premium' replacement that isn't just a jury-rigged version that quickly corrects the ZF9's shortcomings. We'll find out soon enough though.
