United Kingdom Captain Scarlet 1967

Still NO news, or release date on Captain Scarlet vol. 4 ?? It's almost 3 months since vol. 2 was released in March.

Return of the Saint, please. It's a great drama/travelogue, and I'm sure those many beautiful European locations would benefit from a boost into 1080p.

Also, Keep It In The Family was a pretty good show, as I recall - with the wise-cracking cartoonist father who draws while holding a puppet. I was quite tempted by the individual season releases, so a box set might swing it for me.

I'm glad I waited for Within These Walls and The Gentle Touch. Both way overdue for complete sets but finally available at bargain prices (GT September)
Would have been all over these but I too bought the single series dvds ages ago although not sure I have all 3 Shadows series. In fact a lot of these complete sets they seem to be churning out I have, which is annoying as I would sooner have the complete sets for space saving reasons.

A Binge Of Goodies is up for pre-order and guess what I can't get on the website. Nothing new there then.

I did get the email about The Goodies so thanks for reminding me to place my order.
The only downside is that these are dvd's from Network and after 15 years of sub standard discs the problem remains but as we have no choice we have to out up with it
First 1000 come boxed with something called "An Audience With the Goodies" (presumably a DVD), 2 paperbacks (850 pages in total) and 3 CDs of the original songs from the series. The first 500 copies of these also come with a special certificate signed by Bill, Tim and Graeme. As such I'm not surprised the sites crashed.

As much as I'd like this I'll wait for the standard edition.

EDIT: I notice there's no word on colourisation of the episodes that only survive in black and white nor whether they'll be uncut (presumably yes because for example Scatty Safari without the Rolf Harris scenes would be about 6 minutes long). Though on the other hand at least Network state upfront that the original broadcast edit of Kitten Kong is still missing presumed junked.

Hope they don't wait till all 1000 are sold before bringing out a standard release. I think I'm going to pass on this edition as well. Mind you I don't even know what the price of it is yet!

Look on it instead that Volume 3 was released a few months early, until then I always figured Volume 4 would be out around July.

If they were shown on BBCtv then they would likely remove references as they do with Savile in many things but for a commercial release of archive tv it wouldn't go down well with fans if the episodes were edited and there's no legal reasons for any edits just as there's no legal reason for the BBC to edit Savile references but they do from broadcast because some would complain.

Also no news on how much of the 2 books is a retread of the existing Pixley book. I'm betting its the whole book reformatted into 2 separate books with perhaps some new material and / or photos.

The LE pack is 1000 copies so all the things bar the episode dvd's should be absent from any further standard release.
I'm just hoping the picture quality is better than usual. Finally got my order in and it would seem I should be in the first 500.
I doubt Network would go ahead with this project without legally binding assurances from the BBC that every master would be provided uncut with the intention to be released as such. I know the company that released Fist of Fun got screwed over when the BBC insisted they cut at least two sketches (on the grounds of taste and bullying respectively) but Network no doubt have the bargaining power not to worry about such pettiness.

I'm so tempted to buy this set to get the books but would rather have had a blu-ray of Goodies and the Beanstalk and Goodies Rule OK in place of 3 CDs that I'll probably only play once. That is of course presuming the film elements still exist.

24 hour (22 remaining) Thames 50 flashsale:

https://networkonair.com/146-thames-...duct.price.asc

Bit of a slog to get through all the random sitcoms but I've filled the odd hole in my DVD collection, a handful of which at literally charity shop prices.

EDIT: Best buy is probably Naked Civil Servant blu-ray at £3.85 postpaid:

Decided to get Quatermass Blu-Ray and Prospects: The Complete Series on DVD, I vaguely remember this when it was on TV and enjoying it but for just under £4 it's no biggie if it doesn't live up to my expectations.

"Andy Serkis is to direct a performance-capture film version of George Orwell's Animal Farm for Netflix.

It is not known yet whether the film will get a cinema release as well as being on the streaming service."

Interesting news, but the animated film is excellent:

Still got the extras of this blu-ray to watch - from buying it two years ago!

Still haven't listened to the commentary despite having this since the week it was released. Might just do so tonight.

Down on Animal Farm is an interesting episode of kid's show Stay Tooned dedicated entirely to the film. It's a kid's show for sure but of a non-partonising sort they don't seem to make anymore. Definitely worth a 20 minutes watch.

Remember nothing about the Clapperboard extract.

I think I started watching the Stay Tooned episode. I'd watched the film when I bought it. I seem to recall another Blu-ray had an episode on, but I could be mistaken

It was one show I used to watch when they originally aired it and I'd forgotten about it until I got this

I know this is t'internetland, but that's a bit strong.

The ending is unnecessary, but does not paint a substantially different picture to the one Orwell clearly intended.

Making something explicit which was clearly implicit isn't 'a travesty'.

I’m not one generally given to Internet hyperbole. This is how I feel, and I disagree that the difference is merely a case of explicitness. The book ends with society reverting to the status quo; the revolution has failed in its original purpose, and there is no hope for the animals’ future. The film shows the diametric opposite: overthrow of the oppressors and the hope of a utopian future.

Looks like we’re going to have to agree to disagree.
