I bought the complete series of Shoestring from Network for £15.60 on the 15th May. Kicking myself for not putting Out into the order now.

You would have been too late ordering Out on 15th May as they refunded my order via PayPal placed on 12th May as couldn't be fulfilled.

Will never know if this was because they stopped shipping because of the insolvency or they had run out of stock before release day and their problems meant they couldn't get more pressed. Why I think it is unlikely they have lots of copies (if any) in their warehouse.

Default Itc

Other than Strange Report Network were nothing to write home about when it came to ITC dvd releases. But when they embraced blu ray, boy did they find their niche. The TV blu rays from Network are the jewels in my collection.

I hope to have my home cinema projector in play by next month so will be playing a lot on the big screen. Tested the projector with the Retro Action set and it looks like it does when I have seen ITC shows at the BFI.

QUOTE=harry o;21217064]Maybe someone like umbrella could take up the blu ray cause for "the Sweeney" they had many DVD sets of ITC stuff that put even network in the shade back in the day ( no disrespect to network).[/QUOTE]

United Kingdom Potential of Fabulous Films releasing The Sweeney

If anyone in this forum has purchased UK blu-ray box sets released by Fabulous Films (Airwolf, The A-Team, Magnum PI, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, Quantum Leap), you may or may not have noticed the Fremantle Media Enterprises logo on the side and reverse of the box sets so there may be potential for a continuation of The Sweeney on blu-ray as I sent them a message via their Facebook page on June 4th asking if they were aware of Network entering liquidation and if they had plans to acquire their catalogue-although I completely forgot about the Fremantle logo on the box sets until now.

Fabulous Films only use masters the studios give them.

Most of those you mention are Universal titles where they did the HD restoration and then licenced out internationally.

Fabulous are the stereotype one man and his dog operation, they don’t commission and don’t have the money for their own restorations.

Why does Rarewaves on eBay have stock of things Rarewaves.com doesn't?

Because each has their allocation?

My last order direct from network, was The Rivals Of Sherlock Holmes, just a few weeks ago. So sad to see them go. I've been buying from them for 11 yrs. They will be sadly missed.

It's horrible to think so much stuff is about to be lost - complicated rights issues and no one out there who could pull it all together from the TV/archive world... live in hope, but...

Late to hear the news, but this was so sad! I was really holding out hope that Network might get a blu-ray release of The Saint out someday.

Hey, don't underestimate that dude's pooch. He did a great restoration job on Sam Fuller's WHITE DOG for Eureka.

Is that a good show? I was tempted on it a few times, but it looked kind of...dry...to me, i.e. dull. What say you?

Was on Talking Pictures TV recently. Felt to me very stilted and old fashion as mostly studio based so typical of that era. I guess they couldn’t afford the on location footage of something like ITV’s Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes.

Got the DVDs years back and were a view once for me. Think I passed them on to my dad.

Scrounging through Rarewaves and eBay, managed to put this together:

Home at Seven and Danger Within are blind buys, tried to record them but they got pulled from the schedule before airing. The rest were all part of a binge I went on over the last few days.

Already owned these:

I was iffy on Bad Timing, TBH, but I figure I might as well throw it in given it's on its way OOP. More chance of me regretting not making a purchase than of not making my money back on eBay down the road if I end up deciding it's not for me.

I just started watching The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes and it is totally my cup of tea.

Quality top tier British theatre performance in VT production filmed as a play. Tick.

Super lighting to disguise the small budget. Tick.

Great Victorian sets, paraphanelia and fog! Tick.

If any of that appeals to you, I suggest it is for you.

Depends on personal taste of course, but I think Bad Timing belongs firmly in the hot streak of Roeg films that started with Performance.

Well as I said, I did watch it a couple of days ago while trying to binge everything on my watchlist that Network has released (even including The Overlanders, which has a superior release here in Australia), it's not a blind buy. Came out pretty ambivalent, but with it imminently OOP I figure I might as well buy it.

Although for the record I hated Performance.

It was in the first batch of my panic buys while Rarewaves still had it for a good price.
