Hi. I ordered an OOP Olive disc last Monday from Fruugo. I have yet to have the disc despatched, I will let you know if and when it does.

Thanks. Think I'd better hurry up & order the missing Volume 4 as i can't find it anywhere else & the ONLY communication I could get in regards to my order via used & new column on Amazon resulted in me deciding to leave it open & if it doesn't arrive by the end of the month I'll request a refund or whatever option results in that but if I end up with 2 copies (ie the Amazon order does miraculously turn up) then so be it & I'll just sell one of the copies.

A wise move. It's the best series so I think take no chances.

Picked up a couple more old DVDs from Amazon. This time I got:

Mystery and Imagination - a compilation I have long had on my bucket list and decided to go for after the recommendations here. Really looks like something I will like.

Beasts - anthology series written by Nigel Kneale. I have not seen it mentioned here, but I like a lot of Nigel Kneale's other stuff, so I am quite sure I am going to like this, too.

When it's good, it's amazing. When it's bad...there's dolphin ghost sex with Martin Shaw.

Beasts is a bit hit & miss but the dvd is worth getting for the extra Murrain which is great & i don't think is available anywhere else.

Default Fruugo

Hi Fruugo seems to be a waste of space

I just checked my order and it has been cancelled. I had not been informed. Best avoided me feels.

Talking of Nigel Kneale, I highly recommend you get the following (all network unless stated) assuming you haven't got them already:

Network Kneale releases:

The Crunch... and Other Stories (TV) - 3 tales by Nigel Kneale. contains The Crunch / Ladies Night / The Gentry.
Kinvig (TV Series)
The Woman in Black (TV) - Get the BD.
Qauatermass (Mini-Series) (1979) - Get the BD as that also includes the edited film version The Quatermass Conclusion.

Non-Network Kneale releases:

The Year of the Sex Olympics (TV) - BFI.
The Stone Tape (TV) - 101 Films.
The Quatermass Trilogy (3 Mini-Series) - BBC DVD albeit The Quatermass and the Pit (Mini-Series) has been released on BD so you'll want to get the BD as well.
Look Back in Anger - BFI Woodfall - A Revolution in British Cinema BD set.
The Quatermass Xperiment - Kino Lorber BD as it is a PROPER 1080p transfer, the 1.66:1 ratio and the extras, whereas the Oz release is ONLY 1080i & in 1.33:1 ratio.
Quatermass 2 - Scream Factory BD as it is a PROPER 1080p transfer, and the extras, whereas the Oz release is ONLY 1080i.
The Abominable Snowman - Shout Factory BD.
The Entertainer - BFI Woodfall - A Revolution in British Cinema BD set.
Quatermass and the Pit - Get the Scream Factory BD release for the additional commentaries & new extras.
H.M.S. Defiant - Get the Oz Imprint BD release.
First Men in the Moon - Indicator BD of either the The Wonderful Worlds of Ray Harryhausen, Volume 2: 1961-1964 set or just the individual standard edition of the film.
The Witches - Scream Factory BD for the additional extras.
Stanley and the Women (Mini-Series) - John Thaw drama albeit the UK DVD seems to be OOP at least on Amazon.
The Quatermass Experiment (TV) (2005) - Simply Media DVD albeit the DVD has been re-edited & here's some info about the DVD below:

Quote:
Note the show was originally broadcast live, and has subsequently had many alterations made for this DVD release. This was done as an attempt to fix minor mistakes made during the live performance and make other small improvements. Changes include replacing one entire scene with the recorded rehearsal of that scene, plus lots of other minor edits and shot substitutions. In addition, the entire movie has been regraded to give it a greener hue. For more details please see this article detailing the differences https://www.dirtyfeed.org/2015/12/th...nt-experiment/

I would say so. The UK transmission order makes no sense and will be different dependant on region, and the I imagine the IMDB order will be US transmission order. Either way, production order gives you a sense of the character development as they were making it.

Thanks I wasn't concentrating properly & put the wrong one. Also I forgot to mention that the US release is also in the correct ratio whereas the OZ one is in the TV ratio of 1.33:1. Have updated my listings with the corrections.

Hopefully my Fruugo order of Volume 4, which has been dispatched (Monday I think, which was the estimate on my conformation of the order, despite not getting any email telling me it had been despatched & had to check my account), turns up so I can finally start watching the series.

Did Network release any books to do with the series other than the ones in the deluxe version of Volume 6?

Turns out my Fruugo order was actually dispatched yesterday (the conformation of order email said estimated dispatch was Monday but subsequent dispatch email turned up yesterday). Hopefully I'll receive it next week & aml ooking forward to finally being able to see this series once it turns up.

Was in London yesterday and Foyles still have a good selection of Network TV shows on DVD, most at very reasonable prices. Also a a lot of Network movies but only on DVD, most for £7, with a few strangely priced at £13/£14.

Also popped into Fopp around the corner, they have a reasonable selection of Network blu-ray titles, mostly movies, and also a small selection of Network TV shows on DVD.

Non Network related, Fopp have a Curzon promotion (blu-rays for £8.00) as well as the Arrow promotion.
