On the subject at hand, though, I would have to say I would be disappointed if we didn't remain somewhere in the 60's for TF week. I don't want to give them (DUDers) even the slightest bit of satisfaction that they've gained even one percentage point into the 50's with their precious Transformers...
It is correct that pre-orders do not count until the item is actually sold, but, the longer something is ranked high on Amazon durring the pre-order period, the more people are pre-ordering it. More likely than not, people are buing it and not canceling their pre-order. The only thing that would do would falsely inflate amazons top 100 rankings and have no effect on the Nielsen rankings at all. The only time it counts is when the money changes hands.

Are you implying that some Amazon Transformers orders could be counting on today's results because they may have shipped last week? I hadn't thought of that. Probably not a huge impact though, and possibly negated by early starts of the BOGOs.

My original comment was aimed at all the people estimating 50-50 for today's numbers thinking it was for this (TF) week.
Do they ship anything early? I am not sure about that. The earliest they have ever shipped anything to me is the Monday before it is released and more often than not, they ship it the day it is released.

Paramount bribe is directly related to "Losses for the year" at the end of the year. If someone pays me my losses, then I will continue to make the product. It's a guarantee towards losses, not profits.

That's what I was wondering. If, as some on this list contend, that many HD owners tend to pre-order their movies, and especially if they have amazon prime so that they get their orders shipped as fast as anyone can, and if they were charged and their orders shipped by last weekend, then there may be a number of T. HD-DVD orders from amazon that *would* count toward *last week's* sales. If this is true, then this week's sales of T. could be diluted by any number of these pre-orders.

In the past, I've frequently been charged and been notified the *weekend before* a Tuesday availability that my amazon orders have already shipped. And I do get the order on the Tuesday that the product was initially available in the B&M stores.

Now, I know that DeepDiscount is not part of this Nielsen process. But I was charged last mid-week for Roseanne S9 and my order got to me on Monday or Tuesday of this week. So, likely, that order probably counted somewhere (though not Nielsen) for last week's sales since I was charged last week.

BTW, all of my BOGO orders from amazon and J&R that I placed last Friday thru last Sunday--since I go free shipping every time--have only in the past two days been charged to my bank account and I've also received notification, just today, that these three orders actually shipped. So, though I actually ordered them before this past Sunday, I suspect that all of these purchases will, in fact, be counted as Blu sales for *this week*.

YES! My guess was close, that is great news... now if next week is good, it's smooth sailing! I'm guessing 56:44 for next week.

Now the only question is how did we do week ending 10/21?

Were the bulk of BOGO on Sunday?
I think for the most part the general BR buying public didn't know about the sale till Monday/Tuesday. So this could be more good news but by a slimmer margin.

I guess we'll all find out on Friday 10/26.
In the meantime, lets all go out this weekend a pick up a couple more Blu just in case.

56:44 Blu-ray for the 1st week of Transformers would be just about ideal for the Blu-ray side.
