It was just like the X360 add on, they gave away movies for free with it that counted towards the sales because they were scanned at the POS. That's why Heroes has made a big jump back on the sales charts.
It was the $199 A3 which gave 3 free movies from the shelf.

Oh well, I'll say this I was telling everyone not to expect Rat to sell like the Spider because you have to look at who your customers are current for highdef. It's not exactly family friendly yet. Disney admitted this to me in a meeting. It's one reason why you don't see Jungle Book on highdef right now (DVD just released again last month). Next year is when Disney is expecting to have some of their animated titles (Sleeping Beauty and Tinker Bell I think) go blu.
With this said, there may be some sleeper hits that could produce large numbers. It strikes me that Superbad is the type of title that a lot of PS3 users would get.

65 is a decent number if true. However, keep in mind that if HD DVD cannot push the numbers closer after the firesale, this is a clear indication to Warner that no matter what Toshiba does, things are not going to change.

if you are going to believe vaughn then you have to believe these numbers are due to low blu-ray sales, not an increase in hd dvd sales. i cited some estimates in a previous post, either vaughn in wrong about blu-ray sales or both sides had excellent weeks. a good hd dvd week is 100k i believe, if that is the case and ratatouille only did 70k, that means that everything else in our catalog sold a combined total of 130k which is very, very impressive and shows that while ratatouille might not be a hot seller on blu-ray, the rest of our catalog is really taking off and that means new guys are buying blu-ray.

That sale was the week before during Spiderman's release week. There were no good deals to be had for HD DVD last week.

So if they push things closer, to like almost 50/50, what then? Stay neutral? It would be just an endless stalemate... I think that they are smarter than that and can see the longer term picture, not the short term gains.

If these numbers are true for a single week they closed the gap by 6 points on a week with no good releases on red but some killer releases on blu. I'm sure this will be a small dip and will widen when POTC:3 comes out.

Wow wtf. That blows.

I hope he mixed up the YTD & the weekly data, although that's pretty doubtful.

Go Blu!
OK I'm not going to attack the man, but if you want to judge his credibility for yourself go back a few months and read the Insiders Thread during the whole "yields" issue.

I wouldn't trust it until you see it at the Neilsen site.

That would make sense because then no one can say he lied. He simply mentions the YTD and everyone thinks he's talking week.

Don't know about you guys, but I'll wait for the official numbers to be released. After reading some of the stuff this guy wrote, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could flush him.

Some places were giving away a few movies too with the A2 and the 360 add on, that would get scanned and then discounted.
