I hope so, and time sure will tell.

yeah I'd have to agree with everything above, I think a lot of people are sitting on the fence, not because of the price - but because they don't want to be stuck with the losing format.

Although it should be obvious at this stage which is the losing format, this weeks nielsen figures should clear a few things up!

blu-boys, i think the best way to shake universal is to give them a strong dose of how much money they are missing out.

Mobilize the blu battalion to get as many 300 sales as possible. If universal sees a 300 BD:hd ratio of 3:1 or more, its gonna shake some "beliefs" about what is good for them...

Do you really think that Blades of Glory will do that? I wasn't planning on getting it, but I might. That is the only Blu release that week and it is a neutral studio.

I'll say 68:32. 300 is going to massively dominate the result. But, I think there was a definite positive for BD beyond that.

2. 300 HD 55-60%
3. Hot Fuzz HD
4. Shooter BD
5. Shaun of the Dead HD
6. Planet Earth BD
7. Casino Royale BD
8. Bourne Identity HD
9. Apocalypto BD
10. Blue Planet BD
Although as Baby Blu pointed out I might be off with Shaun of the Dead HD...... And I did not think Shooter HD was going to have an impact.

It's another Freaky Friday folks.

It's freaky for Warner, Paramount and Universal, specifically for Kornblau and Graffeo. I'm sure everybody in the studios' home video departments already got his/her Nielsen numbers last night.

I'm guessing 68/32 this week with 300 and Shooter being the only 2 titles for HD DVD in the top 10. Bourne falls off completely, but I wouldn't be surprised if it, or Hot Fuzz cracked the top ten.

Cool hmmm

babyblu..

I would take a wager with you on Hot Fuzz HD versus Shooter HD..... I can understand Shaun(never saw that movie... i didn't know it had been released so long ago) not making the top 10 (or 20 if for that matter)..

But I do think Hot Fuzz outsells Shooter......... by a margin of 3to2 or 4to3
I know amazon sales can be very deceptive...... as previous nielsen rankings have shown...... but damn i would be surprised if Shooter hd outsold Hot Fuzz considering it got never even got close to Shooter in Amazon....

I wish i could take shaun out of my original predictions though.

I saw Shaun of the Dead, will get it when it comes out on Blu-ray. As for Hot Fuzz & Shooter, I don't know but I just feel like Shooter appeals to a larger audience so it will sell better. This is my guess but I do not feel comfortable betting on that guess, which shows how confident I am in it. Either way, it should still be a great week for Blu-ray.

Me too. IMO, after Sept DUD is not going to break 30% market share any more. Rather, I think they will fall into the 20's and stay there until DUD is dead.
