Anyways, it stinks - that is all I can say. I am surprised that VB printed such an article in the first place... |

Here is an interesting graph of the performance of Planet Earth before and after Christmas:
![]() Incidentally, PE BD is #17 and PE HD DVD is #20 on Amazon now. |

makes you think the BDA should have made a deal with Oprah to plug Blu-ray specificially, maybe giving her audience free players or something.

There is probably something to the theory that her site mistakenly linking to the HD DVD version of Planet Earth helped it vs. the Blu-ray version, but there are certainly many other factors involved (region coding, the greater number of big Blu-ray titles, etc.). |

Very true... after the link on her site got fixed to point to the DVD version, the HD-DVD version of PE started to come out of the stratosphere. |

Do you guys see the new BOGO on Amazon which includes the Harry Potter's and Die Hard's and other recent Fox / New Line titles?
The ratings for this week are going to absolutely crush HD DVD. I'm thinking at least 80:20. All of those sales are now hitting with Resident Evil trilogy, Shoot Em Up, and War as new releases. I can't wait until next week now! |

I agree it will be an automatic weekly win for Blu-ray. Speaking of Oprah I wonder if either side has thought about pitching a show idea to her. Sales would go through the roof.

![]() The BDA should have thrown her a few hundred bd players and planet earth disks for her annual "my favorite things" episode. That would have been smart. |

Last week we had an influx of "new" members expressing concern due to the Amazon BOGO for HD DVD. Right now a few hours after the Harry Potter movies went on sale they are #2,3,4, and 5 in Amazon rankings for Blu-ray. I know it dosen't mean anything, but it is curious that some of the same members are not posting in this threat to express some excitment?
