Hey, I've been meaning to buy Master & Commander for close to a year now. If only Fox would bother selling it, that is...

I think all the Reds turning Purple this week should be able to compensate for all of us being broke from last month

I can't wait to see the Nielsen for this first week of january and the next ones, to see what the influence of the Warner decision will have on sales.

Did you all notice how harry potter movies are selling right now even better than DVD's on amazon ? I had never seen the top spot for red or blue as we are a "niche" format.

Anyone knows if Nielsen plans to release figures two weeks late instead of one from now on ?

Actually, Potter on HD DVD reached #1 on Amazon just a week before Potter on Blu-ray.

We have a massive BOGO going on right now, and have reached this situation even before the WB announcement. Combined with the lower post-Christmas DVD purchases, it's not surprising Blu is dominating the sales right now.

But that's not a particularly important indicator. The lowering of the overall volume of HD DVD sales since Friday, however, IS.

In terms of Nielsen weeks, Warner's defection occured this past week ending today, 1/6, with figures notionally in HMM published next Friday, 1/11. Since the news hit late in the week, I wouldn't expect it to have a huge effect w/e 1/6 as it will affect only a couple of days sales and that only for folks who are on top of that news.

w/e 1/13 should be a very different story, but we'll not see those figures until 1/18-ish.
