They are counting on all these "need to get HD DVD to watch Transformers" people to actually rush out and buy a player. To maximize the effect, it needs to be before the rest of HD DVD big guns.

Chris
And by Xmas Fox/Paramount ratio will have like 65/45 titles of which 32 of the Paramounts will have been released in Blu

You always use the hmurchison style

Ahh didn't hear about that, thanks. Apparently not many other people did either as I ripped that list from another site. Guess no one really cares about Shrek the Third.

I'd rather have Shrek and Shrek 2 on DVD than have The Third on BD, but that's my movie tastes...

(emphasis is mine)

I think that's part of their plan too. They want people to panic and buy the player before the effect of the announcement wears out, and people had a chance to sit down and assess the situation with a cool head.

one issue with your analysis. Fox relased all of its titles in a very limited time frame, if Fox would have not stopped because of AACS being cracked it would be well ahead of Paramount.

Wrong!!!

Here where I live during holiday (Indonesia), Shrek 3's run in cinema here is shorter than Ratatouille (which runs up to now). No chance of it distroying ratatouille.

I don't think it was explicitly said one way or the other, but I would think it does. Kind of takes the sting out doesn't it?

If you ask the same people on AVS who claim the 125 release number for actual movies and dates, you'll get a lot of:

"Movie X: November 6th (rumored)"

Thats the other thing. I'm going to borrow a couple of their phrases, "I'll believe it when I see it" or "talk is cheap".

"I'll believe it when I see it" goes for TL 51 as well.

I think a better phrase to "borrow" from their script of FUD is that TL51 is Science Fiction.

Yes, I've used that one for this purpose as well.

I laugh at anyone who uses that argument since even the HD-DVD group says that the yields for it would be years away from market viability.

now when i see prices for the movies, they all look the same, except for The Departed, Blu ray was 29.99 and HD-DVD was 34.99, but planet earth was 100 on BD and 89 on HDDVD. i can't figure why its different, is it the studio of the film or is it some other factor?
