Probably Not gonna stop ordering stuff. Would have to be careful anyway, at the Store more so. There's stuff I wanna get and a collection to build. If by chance the package is Infected cause of the sender or Mailman, Perhaps a way of disinfecting the Box and Blu rays that come in, assuming that doesn't harm the plastic and Slips. And I'll be washing hands anyhow after touchin'.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (DGC) - Dollar General Corporation announced plans to dedicate the first hour of each shopping day to senior shoppers, as well as amend store operating hours beginning Tuesday, March 17. Beginning tomorrow, Dollar General is strongly encouraging that the first hour of operations each day be dedicated solely for the shopping needs of senior customers, who are one of the groups most vulnerable to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Dollar General wants to provide these at-risk customers with the ability to purchase the items they need and want at the beginning of each day to avoid busier and more crowded shopping periods. Other customers are encouraged to plan their shopping trips around this window of time to allow the most susceptible customers in our communities the ability to shop during the first hour that stores are open. Additionally, all stores plan to close one hour earlier than current close times to allow employees to clean and re-stock store shelves, as well as for their health and wellbeing. Stores will continue to maintain current opening hours. Normal operating hours by individual store locations are available here. |

Haven't bought any movies in several weeks and if anything it will lead to even less time watching movies since my spouse and family will be at home as well. So that will end up being minimal 'me' time or at least watching movies that more suit my tastes.

My take on this it's not a pandemic. It's a public health incident that's gotten so out of hand due to poor international corporation, and insular inept governance. That's not to downplay the loss of life, or the medical professionals working tirelessly to solve it.
But it seems clear to me the WHO seen how terrible Europe and America were reacting, so just called it a pandemic to foster the solidarity, and crystallize the need for immediate mobilisation. I mean the bloody Italians were literally killing their citizens, and pushed the health care system of northern Italy to breaking point. Only when the government finally acted and, locked the country down, did they all start taking collective responsibility. Right, ok, say you don't accept the Chinese data. Let's go with Korea and Japan as being the examples of why this is just a public health crisis. Korea only got so many cases mainly due to that crazy cult, but through aggressive contact tracing, and rigours testing case numbers have been controlled by finding the clusters and taking appropriate action. Japan adopting a similar stragedy, less than 1000 cases, clusters controlled. Hong Kong, Singapore insane population densitys. All outbreaks controlled and managed effectively. Meanwhile we all look like a holes in the West, with our embarrassing puerile panic buying of toilet paper. Seriously, get a grip. Our governments have failed, but if you so desperately want toilet paper in the future. Make the sacrifices now as an individual in your life for the collective wellbeing of us all. Isolate as much as possible, slowly stockpile items so supply chains can keep our shelves replenished, keep your distance form other citizens. Then this can all be over in 2 or 3 months. ![]() Last edited by Scottishguy; 03-17-2020 at 07:04 AM. |

^ Your post made me curious as to when a pandemic is officially confirmed. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your post, as much as just educating myself.
At any rate: "According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)Trusted Source, there are very distinct differences between an outbreak, epidemic, and pandemic. The CDC explains that an outbreak is an increase in cases of a disease above what’s normally expected in a certain area. The increase is often sudden. An epidemic is much like an outbreak, but for people within a larger region. The two terms differ only in degree. A pandemic is an epidemic that’s spread over several countries or continents and affects a large percent of the population. It’s important to note that this isn’t used to indicate the severity of a disease, only the degree to which it’s spreading." |

I think pandemic though suits a lot of politicians though trying to minimize their culpability in this mess. I mean the EU likes to toot it's own trumpet with grand statements how they act as 27. I haven't seen much of that these last few weeks. But don't take that as being anything to do with my position on Brexit. I'm just calling as I see it. |

Needless to say I'll be curtailing my discretionary purchases for the time being (still got a little PayPal "fun money" going out though). I have more than plenty physical media to watch and books to read, so no pity here. This too shall pass. ![]() |

We had a pandemic in 2009 with the swine flu. The main thing that was different and helped was we had a vaccine. Right now we don't have one. Testing will be starting soon but the best thing as MifuneFan said is the cull the curve. So stay inside if you are sick, use common sense, wash your hands, only go out if you have, and stop being a jerk and hoarding things.

The plan is to be stuck in this germ hell for the rest of the year, keeping the number of any cases at a time to a minimum. Letting everyone out means it'll likely be over in a few months, but overload on the healthcare system will mean a much lower percentage of recoveries. |
