Anyway, I thought it was very poor for a Fritz Lang flick. Whenever movies feature a doctor explaining the behaviour of a killer with long-winded psychobabble, you know the screenplay isn’t up to much.

Does the Arrow have anything in the way of supplements?

Lang's pretty hit or miss if we're being honest.

Yes

* Commentary by film noir expert Alan K. Rode
* Barry Keith Grant on Secret Beyond the Door, the author and scholar introduces the film
* The House of Lang, a visual essay on Fritz Lang's style by filmmaker David Cairns with a focus on his noir work
* Bluebeard (1947), a radio play aimed at children drawing on the same source as Secret Beyond the Door
* International poster gallery
* Trailer for Lang's 1943 noir, Hangmen Also Die!

All four noirs originally released in the Arrow noir box set have reversible art. They are reusing the same artwork for all four, so if you want to see the original poster art for any of them, you can just flip it over. Additionally, all supplements from the four titles should port to the individual releases (details on them here: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=21946).

I'm sold. That just blows the Olive / Paramount disc to hell & gone, doesn't it.

A commentary by Alan K. Rode is always valuable.

I found the Olive disc to be unwatchable. The sound level of the dialogue was so low that I had to crank up the volume but then when the music kicked in, it was deafening.

And no subtitles to compensate was the coup de grâce.

Well......of his noir output I'd put Ministry of Fear and The Big Heat on the top shelf, and the rest being good rather than great. M is a critics classic, but I didn't like much it at all - very disappointing I thought considering its reputation.

I think Scarlet Street is a bona fide classic. It really is a quintessential example of noir.

I think the Arrow version is region free and the picture and sound quality is perfect.

You can say that about all directors, but most of Lang's films are pretty good.

I agree. I've always liked photorealistic paintings and drawings.

Default Has anybody ever seen early 70's Film Noir parody "Tarzana"?

I just watched it and was impressed. It was included on the German Blu-ray for "Miracle Mile" (same director), but it is not included on U.S. or U.K version. It is a great looking 35 minute B/W student film from 1972 with a cool cast including Timothy Carey, Edie Adams, Michael Gwynne, Reni Santoni and Kate Murtagh (Switchblade Sisters) and other cult actors. Eddie Muller once raved about it and it's hard to believe they allowed a kid in his early 20's to make it. Check it out if you can find it.

Our resident Kino Insider has just announced that Kino has a new licensing deal with Universal, and there will be some noir titles included with that. So let the guessing begin!

Phantom Lady and Criss Cross are obvious titles one would expect first, so those I imagine

Would also love The Big Clock. Long speculated to be with Criterion, but nothing materialized so far, so a BD from Kino would be most welcomed.
