I'll second BODY HEAT by Barry, which is my second-favorite film score, second only to Bernard Herrmann's OBSESSION (1976).

Are we talking strictly Noir or is Neo Noir included? Because I will say as incredible as movies from the 30s-50s are, they don't have the best soundtracks compared to movies from the 70s and beyond. I'd say for Noir, Touch of Evil has the best soundtrack while for Neo-Noir most definitely goes to To Live and Die in LA. That scene when Defoe is printing money is epic on the ears.

Chinatown is another film noir with a sublime score (even if I've never been the movie's biggest fan.)

Of the neo-noir scores, I also favor Shire's FAREWELL, MY LOVELY. I also like Herrmann's TAXI DRIVER, Goldsmith's CHINATOWN, and Mancini's EXPERIMENT IN TERROR.

In an email newsletter this evening, Classic Flix has announced that another Mickey Spillane film will be released on Blu-ray next year, namely THE LONG WAIT (1954). It's been a long wait for that one, as I've never seen it.

Given a bunch of their other noirs have gone OOP I was worried CF might be abandoning that genre, preferring instead stuff like Our Gang.

Understandable, but we are definitely not abandoning film noir. In addition to THE LONG WAIT, we have 2 noirish-type thrillers and one bonefide B noir coming up in 2023.
