Noir relevance aside, this film has my highest recommendation. Fritz Lang could hardly do wrong in those days, and his talent for injecting life into shadowy landscapes works so well here. Storywise, this is a fascinating call-to-arms against the Nazi threat, and noir stalwart Joan Bennett (The Woman in the Window, Scarlet Street, etc.) is wonderful.

I can never truly recommend a TT title, but a member in the trading forum is selling this for $25 shipped. The Fox DVD doesn't look bad either as an alternative.
Thank you both. Ordering tonight.

Good news indeed. Been tempted a number of times to pull the trigger on an OOP copy for silly money.

Took advantage of the Olive Films sale and picked up The Enforcer and A Double Life, pretty excited for these two.

Aw ****!! That means no one else can release it for another several years. Do I wait so I don't have to buy an overpriced movie or do I just bite the bullet?

This is selfish of me, I know, but I hope that the 2016 Twilight Time Blu-ray of The Big Heat does not feature a new restoration or a better transfer in the way that Journey to the Center of the Earth or Fright Night did. I have the existing disc, and I'd rather not double-dip.

In other noir news, I watched the Warner Archive of Murder, My Sweet yesterday, and it's quite a remarkable improvement over the DVD. Highly recommended!

Whenever it's released next year, It'll take some time to sell out. The first release took 16 months to sell out, so you have time to decide.

The initial release was only 25g single layer so my guess is that this one will be 50g dual layer with a better bitrate. They took some flack for their expensive single layer releases early on, so I doubt they would re-release this that way, but who knows? In any case, given that there is very little risk of the new edition looking WORSE than yours, why not sell it while there is still some OOP value to it?

Nope. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. It's an awesome film, and I'm happy to have a good-looking Blu-ray as is. I just know that I'll feel compelled to upgrade if the 2016 release is an improved transfer.

If they do, it probably won't be for a while. The Big Heat sold out about 2 years ago; Leave Her to Heaven sold out only 6 months ago.

I look forward to picking that up at some point along with Out of the Past and having a fantastic Warner Archive film noir double feature. It will probably be a while since I need to slow down on purchases for a little while, but they are still high on my list.

Even if it has a better bitrate, I doubt it will be anything other than one on these where you won't even notice the difference in motion. Either way, a 25GB disc could easily handle an 89 minute movie with virtually no special features, so it's not like they really cheaped out so to speak.

I have no interest in selling my copy either since it's: 1)My favorite Twilight Time release 2)Already looks fantastic

I'd sell it now while you can still get a premium price and then re-buy it next year.

Anyone ever attempt to watch the DVD for House on 92nd Street? I'm trying hard but this has to be one of the most boring films I've ever seen! This movie had to have tanked at the box office and the narration I thought would just lead us into the film but this was a waste of money for sure. The movie should have killed the narration and tried to stick to the story instead of explaining every thing annoyingly.

I recently bought and viewed this last week and I loved it! Great cinematography as to be expected and really awesome use of symbolism.
