Definately in for Too Late For Tears, its a great film. Dunno about Woman On The Run...I wasn't overly impressed with it, the crappy print didn't help though.

I also didn't care for WOMAN ON THE RUN and I saw the restored version. It's a very minor noir and much too sentimental for my tastes. I was surprised any funds went into reviving this when there are much better films in the genre they could have chose. It's likely that the San Francisco locations earned it a restoration given that Muller, the foundation and the flagship film festival are all based there. An easy pass for me at FA prices.

I don't feel guilty paying a premium for flicker alley releases since it will help lead to more films being restored.

I think it is great that more Noirs are being restored...

I've never seen Woman on the Run but it won't be my first blind buy..

Now if only Fox will start to issue their catalog on Blu

I pre-ordered both of these from Flicker Alley for release day. Not waiting on these. I want to do my part to send the sales message that we want more noir on Blu-ray.

I have quite a few Flicker Alley Blu-ray releases. They do stellar work. They are not cheap, and rarely go on sale or have much of a discount at Amazon or DeepDiscount or elsewhere. The best prices are on Flicker Alley's own website or, if you want to wait, a B&N 40% sale (but I want to caution that B&N often gets the MSRP wrong on FA titles and bases their discount off of a higher MSRP.) I have found the Flicker Alley website to be the best and cheapest place to buy their titles. They also ship promptly with good packaging.

I want more Film Noir Foundation restorations released on blu and this is one effort I will support with my wallet.

I just pre-ordered both Too Late for Tears and Woman on the Run directly from Flicker Alley.

$62.62 for both of them and shipping, but that's comparable to what I pay for Twilight Time titles, Criterion titles, Code Red titles, and most Scorpion Releasing titles.

Besides, if my Flicker Alley release of The Most Dangerous Game/Gow, the Head Hunter is any indication, then I know that these presentations will be exceptional in terms of extras, packaging, and whatever else.

I've got do my part to put the word out to Flicker Alley that films noir like this are definitely wanted by the buying public.

Finally... Lizabeth Scott. Lizabeth Scott, y'all! The day that I pass up on buying a Lizabeth Scott Blu-ray on day one is the day that they lower me into the ground.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about the Film Detective release of Kansas City Confidential? I was just wondering if there was any difference in quality compared to the Film Chest version.

I'd be interested in this too. I've been going back and forth on whether to get the Film Chest version, too. Like I know it has DNR and all (yuck), but would it be better than a decent DVD/digital copy of the flick? Seeing as DVDs/SD can't really handle grain like a BD can to begin with. I guess I should just try one of their releases and see if I'm OK with it. I mean 3/5 from the site's review isn't thaaaat bad for a cheap-ish, low-profile release.

I have Film Detective's Blu of Hollow Triumph. Although the film itself is decent, it's not on a pressed disc. That might be a deterrent to some folks. I have no idea if their DVDs are DVD-Rs (movies burned to DVDs).

I'm interested in TOO LATE FOR TEARS, at least. However, I seem to recall that VCI or somebody released a "restored" DVD of it some years ago, and I also recall thinking that that release wasn't exactly stunning. So, I'll wait for some reviews of the new FA release, after some people here have had a chance to view it.

Does Flicker Alley charge your credit card upon pre-ordering or do they charge upon ship date?

That was before better film elements were found and UCLA did the restoration. There hasn't been a truly restored version until now. It should look miles ahead of what was released on DVD.

Hi I am new to this thread just wanted to ask are the movies
Kiss Of Death (1947)
The Glass Key (1942
The Blue Dahlia (1946)
And Farewell My Lovely (1975) not considered noir films? I know most people would say Farewell My Lovely is neo-noir but I see very little mention of any of these films in this thread. I Consider them noir because of the feel of the films and they are some of My all time favorite films. I would welcome some comments from other noir fans.

Kiss of Death, The Glass Key, and The Blue Dahlia are most certainly films noir. They're just not currently available on Blu-ray, so they get overlooked a lot in this thread.

The 1975 version of Farewell, My Lovely, which is, likewise, a noir, is only available on DVD as well.
