Sony has already released some obscure movies of the same genre (Warriors of Heaven and Earth come to mind) so I assume it's not that they are not willing to go that way. My guess is that like CTHD, they're trying to figure out when's the right time to release it (i.e., holiday season).

I wonder if they do their own encodes or if Sony already made this one? If so it should come to the US soon.

Saw an HD trailer for Shoot 'Em Up while watching Cops last night and the PQ was awesome.

I'm pretty sure this is a New Line movie and I know Hairspray has been announced for Blu Ray but has anyone heard about Shoot 'em Up releasing on Blu?

There is a page on Amazon for the Star Wars Trilogy in blu-ray. It allows you to put your email addy in a box and they say they'll alert you when it becomes available.

I was thinking that An American Tail would be sweet if it came to Blu Ray but then I saw it was a Univeral Picture.....damn!

In the US thats a NO since it is under Dreamworks and nothing but a standard DVD came out a couple weeks ago, not sure who has the rights outside of the US though.

May be a stupid question, but....Will the original animated movie ever be released on BD? I have the 20th anniversary SE dvd already, and saw that it was distributed by Sony BMG music and home entertainment, but just wondering.

So... Natural Born Killers and Resivor Dogs are both coming to the blu... but not Grindhouse? What's up with that? I thought all QT's movies used the same distributor.

Yep: Official breaking headline, "Raiders" is still Paramount, and "Apes" is still Fox.

Yes, Raiders is Paramount, but not subject to the HD-DVD exclusivity deal and Planet of the Apes (both new and old) are 20th Century Fox. I would expect them both to be released sometime in mid 2008, once Blu Ray wins out.
