Why would going to the 706 help with "loud voices"? I'm confused by your statement. You can adjust the volume, frequency levels, speaker output levels and more on both receivers.

How do I set up audio for the Onkyo? I've got it all connected via HDMI, but I see settings for pcm/analog inputs, which are stereo, mono, etc. Then there are options for Dolby digital inputs, where you can pick something called orchestra, etc. The manual didn't help much.
So I'd like to know, which input is HDMI covered by, and which of those options do I choose to get my devices to play 5.1 when it's a 5.1 soundtrack, or to play stereo when stereo is the only sound mode available. Thanks

"Orchestra"/etc are just different listening/surround sound modes. I typically only use them in stereo or mono situations personally (cable television, pc movie/clips, or some old movies).

In the GUI, you can set up what you want the 606 to output when it receives a certain signal. I personally just do it straight: DD -> DD, DTS -> DTS, etc.

...is this what you're asking, or am I missing something?

I mean that 706 has much watt more than 606

Do I need those watts in my 13*16 room or not

Thank you

Depends on the speakers you're driving. Do you "need" it? Probably not. Can your speakers use it? Possibly. What kind of speakers do you have/are you planning on getting?

Most of these MKV movies probably have AC3, Dolby Digital or DTS sound.

That speaker has 250w, 6ohm handling. Probably the 706 (or higher) would be the better route. There's certainly nothing wrong with using the 606 however, depending on your listening volume and such.

Hello people. an easy question for you this time.
Each time the Onkyo changes audio types, it makes a sort of click. I'm told this is it changing or something. However, with my sky box currently set up to give me Dolby Digital, it insists on checking the audio everytime I change channel/open the TV Guide.
So I'd like to know, will the fact it keeps clicking cause it to breakdown? Is there anyway to stop it from auto checking every time? I tried changing it from Auto to both PCM and DTS, but it didn't give out any sound on either of them. Unless I did it wrong, am I stumped?

Just in case anyone is looking for a 606, shoponkyo.com has some refurbs in stock for $349.99; take an additional $10 off for joining club Onkyo. I just picked one up with a 3-year warranty (addition $40). Free shipping via Fed Ex ground.

Edit: I just realized that they're no longer listed. I must've gotten the last (only?) one. They might get more, though.
