I still strongly suspect the Thunderball track is a downmix. My complete thoughts on the matter are in the master downmix thread.

What are some of the signs that FYEO and Thunderball (and I guess Moonraker) might be downmixes?

Not a sound guy but I would assume you'd have to compare sounds to the verified original tracks, looking for changed effects and whatnot. Anything else could just be the result of clean-up, I would think.

I watched Thunderball not long ago with mono selected and the dynamic range was insane. I remember posting about it and someone replied "yeah it was always like that." Not sure what the modern mix sounds like on the same disc.

Just watched my Thunderball BD.

The 5.1 track and the 2.0 track are exactly the same in terms of content (music, dialogue and effects). The only difference is that the 5.1 is spread and the 2.0 comes thru the centre channel only.

Unlike the heinous UE DVD remix (which contained new Foley) the BD's 5.1 is mixed from what appears to be the original audio (although the music tracks are exceptionally clear and robust if that means anything). Apparently this track dates back to the 90s laserdisc.

So, is the BD's 2.0 track a downmix of the BD's 5.1 or is the 5.1 remixed from the 2.0 track? It's frankly hard to tell.

Has it been confirmed if the Everything or Nothing doc is on its own disc in the ultimate box set? I presume it must be unless it's a digital cloud based copy instead?

I've been meaning to get Thunderball and the two Daltons, but was lazy about it... Now I have to settle for the re-releases with the shitty new cover art. I had cover art uniformity up until now with the exception of FRWL which was the original release cover. All the others were from the 50th anniversary repacks. Now I'm gonna be all over the place!

But yeah, once I get Thunderball, LTK and TLD, I'm good. Other than Spy, i'm not a huge fan of the Moore Bonds.

Get the ones you don't have on Amazon, there still available.

The Amazon exclusive Ultimate set is CDN$ 169.99 at amazon.ca, which is about $130 US. Not bad.

What is the difference between it and the $80 more expensive one? http://www.amazon.ca/Amazon-Exclusiv.../dp/B011O7ZGQA

Just the packaging and the book?

Both listings say "24 Discs", so I'm confused on the differences as well. I can't see a promotional booklet costing an additional $80.

I just pre-ordered the cheaper set. I only own half of these movies and I figured it would cost close to $95 to buy the other half individually, anyway. Now I can have them all in one box. All I'm hoping is that the cheap set is not cardboard sleeves.

Yeah. Honestly I'd like the book and the documentary, but it doesn't sound worth that massive price increase.

And digital codes, which you could probably sell for at least $30 I would guess. Still, it does seem like a crazy difference. Either way I am happy with the Bond 50 set so it matters little to me.

Wish they would remaster Goldeneye.

I am, and I don't. But I did get my father the Bond 50 set with Skyfall, so I can watch whenever I want.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the covers for the three Blu cases with the new set. Talk about completely uninspired. I'll have to make customs to replace them.

That's not really my point though, is it? What I'm getting at is that the covers should probably be made to appeal to those who don't have these films and maybe don't know much about them. The original posters are filled with explosions, guns, sexy looking girls, etc. and are meant to catch the eye and be appealing and make you want to buy the films. And even for those who are longtime Bond fans, they'd probably squeeze out more sales by putting the original posters on the cover from longtime fans who would double-dip for that very reason.

I imagine most people haven't commented on the covers from the box set because they are hidden inside the outer box I suppose.

So all I have on Blu ray is Skyfall.

At $110.00, that's approx. $5.00 per disc, for 24 discs, inc. sales tax.

I don't want books, or toys, or steelbooks.

ALL the Bond films, in HD, together in the same place.

I see no downside for a person such as myself.

There isn't one really, but you could have done it years ago with the Bond 50 set. People are just complaining because this is nothing new, just a repackage.

Oh and Goldeneye will still look terrible.

Yeah, I looked around for either set online, and price-wise (unless I won an auction) the $110.00 looks to be my best bet.

Oh, and years ago, I wasn't interested. The only one I ever cared about was Goldfinger, going back to seeing it in the theater in 1964.

Next night, I did win an auction !!! Nobody bid against me, and I got a 2012 set, sealed for only $99.00 inc. shipping. Now I don't even have to sell my copy of Skyfall.
