why only 9 films why didnt they do 4k scans for all bond films ?

Same reason not every movie ever made has a 4k scan, it costs a lot of money. Still today it does, let alone 10+ years ago when those 9 were done. Rumor is they have all been done in 4k now though, but not on disc.

In addition to the upcoming standard box set release that includes Spectre, there's also a version of the Ultimate James Bond Collection (the one with the Digital HD and bonus disc) coming out on the 20th that also includes Spectre. https://www.amazon.com/The-Ultimate-...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Judas Priest. As much as I love these movies, I kind of hope they stop making them so I can stop dipping. Will I ever watch a Bond film on my phone or tablet or what-have-you? Of course not. Do I want it anyway? Absolutely.

Just buy the current set and have subsequent films elsewhere on your shelf. It's perfectly painless.

And you're absolutely right -- you won't watch them on your phone, so who cares about digital copies?

Lately local law enforcement has been trying out new tactics to prevent the distracted driving epidemic that's (seemingly overnight) killing more people than impaired driving -- fines over $1000, telling passengers to throw the driver's phone out the window, etc.

I think we need similar interventions for those who watch films on phones.

Not to mention people who ride around on their high horses.

Do you?

<poises finger over intervention button>

Didn't mean to sound hoity-toity; when movies first started to be shown on TV I imagine there were similar objections. If it's something you care about watching, watch it properly; if it's not, then the time could probably be better spent doing something else. :shrugs:

It must be hard for the creators of movies and shows to see people consuming them on those little things -- whether they've paid or not.

Hey you guys, so I just received the new James Bond Collection Set in the mail yesterday (Sept. 16th) from Amazon Canada. This is the new version with all 24 films including Spectre with a street date of September 20th (yes in my hands 4 days early).

I did not order the Ultimate James Bond Collection because really I would never use the digital codes.

Just to report that the last two movies, both SkyFall and Spectre don't match the rest of the discs. The rest of the discs are all the matching 007 style discs, while the SkyFall and Spectre discs looks like they were sourced from the same stock as the ones they use in the standalone. Otherwise an excellent set.

The UJBC should have all matching discs, but I guess we'll see.

Some do and some don't. I bought the white box set when it came out and the Skyfall disc matched the others, it wasn't the white disc art. Obviously Spectre wasn't included, however, the Licence To Kill disc had the same disc art as the original blu-ray release, so they're clearly using discs from unsold individual releases to fill out spots in these collections when need be. Not that it matters to me though.

Right. I can see that being the case for the JBC (white) because they're trying to get rid of old stock by including some of the standalone discs in some packages and not in others. But I'm talking about the premium UJBC (black). TMK, the previous UJBC that came out on September 15, 2015, had no standalone discs mixed in, but all matching disc art, including for Skyfall. Overall, this is a minor issue, but why would they change that for the updated premium set? I guess Spectre could be the standalone disc, but I don't believe this will be the case for the new premium set.

I hope someone soon posts an update for the new UJBC.

Default For those that are interested...

Looks like the new UJBC has all matching discs except for Spectre, which appears to be the standalone disc from the back of the packshot. This is disappointing to me, but certainly not surprising.

Maybe digitally, but I can't imagine that happening on a disc.

Finally bought 24-Film White from Amazon.ca for $69.99 CAD.

Approximately $3 CAD per movie, not bad

I've followed the franchise for a long time and seen them all, but only ever owned the original releases of Goldeneye on DVD and Casino Royale on Blu-ray.

You always pay more to get stuff right away, it's not really unusual. Also I made money on the deal from selling my Bond 50 set anyway.

I've got a pretty specific question about the amazon exclusive set- which, I realize is just Bond 50 repackaged. The Casino Royale disc... is it the Collector's Edition disc? Are the bonus features from the bonus disc with the Collector's Edition of Casino Royale in this package?
