I liked A View to a Kill. I had heard bad things about it but I enjoyed it. It had great action scenes. Christopher Walken could have been better as the bad guy.

That's exactly what's wrong with it. Walken's character was poorly written.

Grace Jones and Tanya Roberts are both terrible actors and Roger Moore was way too old to still be playing Bond.

For my money, it is Moore's worst turn at Bond and neck and neck with Die Another Day for worst Bond ever.

Big fan of the Duran Duran song, though.

Love me some AVTAK. Guilty pleasure, sure, but it's fun when you clock it as an 80s remake of Goldfinger.

Walken is one of the best things in A View To A Kill. Sinister without devolving into the hammy joke he became in his later years.

A big part of what sinks A VIEW TO A KILL for me is the utterly dreadful Tanya Roberts as Stacy Sutton. I know many of my fellow Bond enthusiasts have a field day joking about the credibility of casting Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist, but not a whisper about this vacuous mannequin playing a geologist?

I keep meaning to have some friends over for a drinking game where we have to take a shot every time a wide-eyed Roberts laughably yells "James!" in the latter half of the movie - we'll all be sufficiently blotto or passed out long before the end credits roll...

That, or any variation of Bond saying "Stacy, give me your hand".

I also watched the Timothy Dalton movies for the first time. The Living Daylights is probably one of the best movies in the series. Definitely in the top 10. Both had great action scenes. Now I have seen all the Bond movies.

To this day, the biggest lost opportunity in the series is that Dalton didn't get to make two more Bond films in the early 90s due to the behind-the-scenes legal bullshit. Half the reason people still talk smack about Dalton is that he did only two, using that as "proof" that audiences didn't like him.

How dare you talk about vacuous mannequins that way.

Tanya Roberts is a delightful thespian!

View to a Kill's plot made little sense, but Bond films are defined by the villain and I thought Walken was pretty darned sinister in that role. Grace was there for her physical presence. Tanya . . well, geology's not a real science! Reminds me, I need to get a copy of her version of Sheena

Parts of AVTAK feel like a big budget episode of Matlock. Moore, I love him, but he was definitely too old by 1985. I still enjoy the film, as I do all Bond's, but it's definitely among the worst of the series. It's also probably the most dull Bond film from a visual standpoint.

It's probably the worst from a filmmaking perspective I'd say. Some people dislike Diamonds are Forever or Golden Gun more because of story issues and whatnot, but View to a Kill is the worst made movie of them all. Though I still love it because I'm weird.

Grew up watching Bond on tv with my dad. Owned the first three Brosnan films on DVD. Then I got the big photo album style full Blu-ray collection (through QoS at the time). I watched all the films over the course of 4 or 5 years. Barely managed to get through the Moore and Dalton films. Even having grown up with them, they are really hard to watch now, so much racism and sexism and just dated attitudes and behaviors. Funny, Roger Moore was always my favorite, up to the Daniel Craig era, but now I find them the hardest to watch. Maybe it's just the 70s I can't stand. I don't recall ever actually seeing the Dalton films before, I found I really liked Dalton as Bond, a lot, but his films we're the worst plots of any bond films, why is a super spy fighting drug dealers? Felt like a step down. GoldenEye was every bit as awesome as I remembered (I really want to play GoldenEye 64 now), and I was amazed at how self aware it was. Then they went sharply downhill from there. Finally, I gave away my collectors book to my dad, figured he'd get more use as I don't plan to watch the old ones ever again. I am really glad they decided to release the Craig films as a 4k set, I will definitely nab that. And maybe GoldenEye 4k if they ever release it solo. I would say to anyone, the Connery films are all worth watching at least once in life, and GoldenEye and the Craig films are worth owning, but despite thier place in film history, I'm not sure the others are worth anyone's time anymore.

Because
[Show spoiler]one of his closest colleagues/friends (Felix) was almost murder/left for dead with his newly married wife being raped and killed on his wedding night. Bond had a similar experience of losing his only wife on his wedding day in OHMSS. It was a personal mission and struck an emotional chord for Bond.

I got them all from one seller as a set. About 15 of them had never even been opened. They take up a lot of shelf space... but all the Bond movies plus Never Say Never Again for $44 ... not sure how I got that lucky.

No way. Die Another Day is the worst Bond movie full stop. Never seen such trite. And this is coming from a major Bond fan. Atrocious special effects which are a disgrace to the Bond lore considering how most of the stunts were done for real back in the day.

So disappointed when I saw it in the theatres back in 2002 and to think it was the movie that celebrated the 40th Anniversary. Three of the other Bonds attended the Royal Premiere too. I wonder what Dalton was thinking?

Sad that Brosnan had to finish his tenure with this dud.

I just don't know why they did not keep Will Yun Lee as Colonel Moon as the central villain instead of resorting to all that DNA nonsense.

Spectre could have been better but at least it was grounded.

I watched GoldenEye yesterday and it wasn't as good as I remembered. I liked it a lot when I was a kid. The Dalton movies are a lot better.
