The early Bond films are at the top of my 4k release wish list. I’d jump on a preorder in a second.

First world problem but my roommate is moving out and taking his Bond 50 blu-ray set with him. I became a fan of the movies because of that set and still have a BUNCH of them that I haven't watched yet.

On the one hand I was going to wait until a full 4K UHD set came out but it seems reading here and on Reddit that people think it's very unlikely in the foreseeable future, if ever.

So my next best option is to grab one of the outdated and mostly sold out box sets and mayyyybe get the Daniel Craig 4K box.

The ultimate black box edition is way overpriced and mostly secondhand, and the only extras seem to be a poster book and a documentary that can be streamed elsewhere... so that leaves me with the current white box edition or find a used copy of the one I really like.. the Bond 50 edition.

Anyone find that the white box grew on them? It seems like kind of a step down from the Bond 50 packaging.

Bond was all about the packaging...if you know what I mean!

If your in it just for the movies and not collecting the disc, iTunes has all of them in 4k with all the bonus features and typically puts it on sale in the $100 around the holidays….

Crappy packaging can ruin discs or hinder shelf space.

I might consider it, though when doing a couple direct comparisons between the iTunes 4K of one or two of the older movies and the Blu-Ray versions, we both felt the blu-rays actually had better picture quality. I know it's kind of subjective, but we chalked it up to bitrate. I've had the same results with other non-Bond movies as well.

I streamed the 4K of DR. NO on Amazon last year and was blown away by how spectacular it looked.

The white box is great. Apart from the cover art being as plain as you can get, the discs for the movies are all the same as the Bond 50 set. Inside the box you get 3 x plastic cases - one for the first 10 movies, another for the second 10, and a third for the last 4 (minus NTTD of course).

I'm a huge Bond fan and the white box is all I need for these movies. It may not look as sexy as the Bond 50 set, but it's way more functional.

Nothing that can't be fixed with a shovel, tarp and a trip to the woods.

The white box set can be found at Wal-Mart for $80, I don't see a 4K set coming out any time soon. At the earliest would be with the next Bond film and there is no telling when that will be.

All I ever wanted was decent blu ray releases with the original theatrical posters, maybe we might get say the classics like that maybe in 4k before I snuff it !

I would use my licence to kill for a 4k set...

At this point I don't really care about packaging as long as it is functional and doesn't damage the discs. I mostly want nice mono tracks for those that had them originally.

I dunno what the hold up is anyway, they all were mastered from a 4K source and even Goldeneye is on streaming with a newer master.

I wish I could switch my Bond 50 box for the slimmer, better designed, easier to get discs out of, has actual cases, has the bonus disc with the EON documentary black box set.
