I finally just got around to opening my black box set and redeeming the code (went to foxredeem.com and redeemed through vudu) .. looks like I got all 23 films, but not the bonus material. Is that expected? Stinky, I was hoping to watch the bonus material on the plane Monday...

cheers,
..dane
Doesn't come with the bonus material.

There is a thread for it I think, or it was talked about in the Spectre thread. Either way I believe it was confirmed to be a Daniel Craig collection and nothing else.

Sure wasn't. Not in any thread I've seen. There was one guy CLAIMING that it was just a Daniel Craig collection, with absolutely no links or proof whatsoever to back up his claim.

Meanwhile I spoke to a rep at Best Buy who assured me it was the complete Bond film collection..... not that reps have a history of knowing what they are talking about either, but I'd trust that over a single random nobody on the internet.

I don't see why they would release another collection immediately after the previous one and charge half the Black Friday price for it, but hey, I guess anything is possible. I originally guessed it was a Spectre collection, all the titles that got steelbooks last year.

I thought someone confirmed it was a Craig collection from a Best Buy ad or something, but I could be remembering wrong.

Either way it's nothing I am interested in soooooooo I dunno.

I had heard that they were going to put the ultimate collection out again but with Spectre included, so who knows.

They will eventually, it's just a matter of time. I'm unsure if I want to grab the spectre release and just put it in the empty slot in my collection or wait and sell my current one and get the eventual new one. I'm a sucker :/

Yeah but not for $60 or whatever it was.

I mean... what do I know though. Media prices are so low these days I guess nothing is beyond consideration.

It has been confirmed. It was updated on Amazon and Best Buy (as well as the listing here) a week or two ago to show that it is a new Daniel Craig collection.

"007: The Daniel Craig 4-Film Collection (includes Spectre) (Blu-ray)"

I somewhat doubt that. Spectre won't get repackaged to match the other 23 films, until the next time the collection gets new sleeve designs. This will be at the end of 2018, when Bond 25 is about to get released. Presumably, that will be the debut of the series in Ultra HD (4K) on Blu-ray.

Doubtful to the bold. Plus, they rereleased the Bond 50 Set with Skyfall after it became available even though it was originally released with a blank spot for it. It will be the exact same packaging, simply with Spectre. At some point, at least.

Most of the Bond movies were remastered in 4k already, so they would be good candidates for classic films on UHD if that ever happens. Of course if they do that they would probably release them separately for more money (and could avoid the not-4k ones).

I honestly don't see why MGM just doesn't release it on Blu-ray/DVD again (as well as Casino Royale 67).

Hard to say, but in the interim the region-free German releases of NSNA and CR '67 can be bought for $21.97 shipped total.

ITV are currently showing On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It's cropped and the opening titles are in non-anamorphic widescreen.

It's 2016!

Purchased the Ultimate James Bond Collection over the holidays on a Boxing Week Sale, and it has the spot for Spectre inside the set reserved. Spectre is to arrive tomorrow can't wait.....

Just a question to others in the form, I own all 3 previous Daniel Craig movies (Casino Royale 2006 / Quantom of Solace 2008 / Skyfall 2012) in there independent releases. Is it safe to pawn those off? since they are in the Ultimate Set? I would assume the ones in the Ultimate Set have all the bonus footage as well correct? or is that the only reason to keep those three (if I so choose). The Specifications of the identical Movie titles should be the same between the two BD disks correct?

Any info on what others have done, would greatly be appreciated

Thanks

Erm... it's three discs. Why not put them in your player and - well, check yourself?

I checked myself.

And then I wrecked myself.

Casino Royale and maybe Skyfall lost a couple featurettes switching to one disc, as I recall, but in general it's not considered a big deal by most. These modern featurettes are all promotional and useless anyway, IMO. At the end of the day though no one can tell you what you think is important, it's up to you.

'Skyfall' has only been released on Blu-ray in a one disc version, but there are a lot of extra features on the second disc of the 'Casino Royale' "Collector's Edition" that weren't ported over to the single disc included in the Bond 50, regular, and "Ultimate" James Bond Blu-ray collections.

There was actually a bit of effort put into the 'Casino Royale' and 'Skyfall' Blu-ray releases, but everything included with 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Spectre' is definitely of a relatively cheap, EPK quality with the possible exception of the documentary covering the filming of the opening sequence of 'Spectre'.

I hope we EVENTUALLY get a re-release of 'Quantum' with the reportedly already recorded Marc Forster commentary and a release of 'Spectre' that includes quite a bit more than the already available on-disc content... the DVD that is exclusive to the Target release is a *start*, but it still doesn't seem enough extra to warrant a purchase considering it merely covers the lackluster Sam Smith theme song and the Hentai-inspired title sequence that accompanies it in the film.

Maybe I was just spoiled by the (nearly) feature length 'Skyfall' documentary and the two commentaries included with that film, but I feel that Bond is a series that should include at least a little in-depth bonus content with each home video release... I'm not necessarily hoping for something along the lines of the LOTR/Hobbit Appendices, but we all know they folks at EON definitely have enough behind-the-scenes footage to piece together much more compelling content than we've been given for two of the last four Bond films.
