I have the individual actors sets and I'm glad I upgraded to the one with Craig that included Spectre. Pretty sure he's done.

Not point in rebuying if I own the Bong 50 set? Or did the 4k/2k remasters happen after that?

Was that the set that came out on 4/20?

Fun fact: This TV movie was in 1983; the same year that Connery returned to the role in Never Say Never Again and Moore was back for Octopussy. So ALL of the Bonds (up to that time) were playing the role in '83.

Crazy stuff.

Well, it depends on whether you want the Everything or Nothing documentary on the new bonus disc and if you want Spectre to have matching disc art (some people care about this). The matching disc art for the new UJBC can't be confirmed just yet, but the updated Bond 50 with Skyfall had matching disc art. So...it's likely to be the same for Spectre in this case. Additionally, the new UJBC is much more user/shelf-friendly. Just something to think about.

As far as the "remasters" are concerned... Someone more knowledgeable in that area will have to help you out.

Pretty sure he was asking about the disc contents, not OCD packaging stuff.

Anyway, the discs are all the same no matter the set. Casino Royale, which has the same PQ all around, lacks a few minor features compared to the 2-disc solo edition. There are supposedly more 4k masters out there but they have not been put on disc yet.

This seems like a total waste of money...

You would think they would have restored all the movies before reissue, rather than just a few....

Talk about half assed!

They didn't change any discs for the re-issue, and it was surely done because Bond 50 inventory was waning and they wanted a new set out for Spectre. It's not like anyone had to buy it.

Can they just put Everything or Nothing out on its own already? That's all I really want. I had the updated bonus disc in my cart from bluraysforeveryone and never got around to actually buying it, and now he hasn't had it in stock for a couple months now.

At this point buying all the films individually is probably better. Every new Bond film that gets made there will be a new boxset with the most recent Bond film having the extra disc slot.

It would probably be more expensive to buy each James Bond film individually and it would take up more shelf space than buying the upcoming 24-film standard set. One negative I see about buying the complete set and that goes for any series of a complete set over individually is that if one of the discs is bad in the complete set, the store you bought it from might not let you just swap out the bad disc and might have you exchange the whole set , possibly end up with a different disc that is bad on the exchanged set.

If that happens, just buy an individual copy of whatever movie is defective, switch them out and take the defective individual back for a refund.

I don't know of any stores that would let you do that outside of Amazon. Most retailers offer exchanges only for defective product and it has to be the same title. To get a refund, they'd have to be out of stock.

Amazon is the easiest place to buy sets like this from if anyone is worried about defective discs since they'll ship a replacement before you need to send back the original. You can keep trying to "build-a-set".

True. Surprisingly though there are many fans of this franchise that have massive shelf space for the individual releases with the custom covers. Looking at videos on YouTube it's amazing looking at these in chronological order from the spine. The Bond 50 box set while very nice had many complaints about how the discs are displayed due to them getting scratched. I haven't had any problems with my set till this day, but fans have their own method of how to buy these movies.

I've done it in store before. More than once. At the very least you get store credit, which if you're a regular customer you end up using anyway.

But you can do the same with Amazon. Why keep sending back box sets to replace a single defective disc? Just order another individual copy, switch them out and send it back for a refund or credit. The defective product all goes back to the manufacturer anyway.
