What does "bad sector error" mean? I actually just watched YOLT a few days back and did not experience any issues (from the Bond 50 + Skyfall set).

Missing or corrupted files. I've actually found more than I expected since I started this project almost a year ago. So far I have had to replace Legend (1985), The Twilight Zone: S1 Disc 1, The Wolverine (Extended disc), and now this one. All of these were perfectly clean discs without any smudges or scratches and I am probably more compulsive about my discs than most here.

Interesting. Also watched Wolverine Extended pretty recently and did not experience any issues there, either.

It doesn't always affect playback, but I replace them nonetheless and trash the old discs. Now, if this ever happens to any of my TT or OOP discs I will calling the respective studios. I don't mind replacing a disc for $10 or less, but $30 or more is out of the question.

If it doesn't affect playback then what difference does it make? Is it the kind of thing that'll only affect playback on a rip? If so I'm not gonna sweat about it, but I can understand others' concerns.

I assume that's why he mentioned he was compulsive. I would guess read errors that don't effect playback are pretty common.

Not that common. I have come across those I listed in about 800 or so discs so that's .005%

And tell them what exactly? That the discs play fine when used as intended but when you try to rip them to your computer there's problems? Considering the legal gray area that occupies, do you think they'll be receptive to your problem?

I am saying for discs that don't play properly.

It's worth noting that certain drives seem to play through any potential issues better than others. It may be a factor.

And if it doesn't affect playback I'm sure TT or any of the other studios will tell you what you can do with your defective sectors.
