Dolby Cinema means nothing, even Fox releases titles in Dolby Cinema but not on home video...

And considering that Disney stopped using DV on discs and now is buying Fox......

Disney doesn't care about discs though. They care about digital, and I would be shocked if they supported HDR10+

You are probably right, but I can't believe HDR10+ will be supported by only one studio. It wouldn't survive that way. And Fox will be basically Disney in a few months

One studio and only one digital outlet. I don't think HDR10+ has any shot without support from Itunes, Netflix, Vudu...etc.

The aquisition is not complete.

20th Century Fox Video is still managing and authoring their catalog. What they do picture and sound wise is fully independent of Disney for several months yet.

Disney master their HDR in Dolby Vision at source and have done from the start, so them not putting DV on disc doesn't mean it's not an intrinsic part of their mastering workflow. Ditto for Sony and indeed every other studio that masters their home video deliverables in DV - which is virtually every studio apart from Fox. Christ, even though MGM use Fox for their home video distribution even THEY use DV for their HDR grading, as seen on streaming.

Whatever happens with the rumble in the HDR jungle as far as delivery on disc is concerned - though IMO it's more of a fart in a bathtub - DV is going nowhere when it comes to mastering the content at source. Doesn't mean much to us if it doesn't end up on disc, natch, but reports of Dolby's imminent death have been greatly exaggerated...

I never talked about Dolby's death, quite the opposite actually

I'm talking about HDR10+ death if no studio other than Fox comes aboard in 2019

The Hate U Give is the best movie of the year. It deserves more than HDR10+. Damn it, FOX.

I know you didn't, it's more other people who seem to be writing DV's obit already.

I am very happy to confirm my MU8000 is HDR10+ capable. This is A Beautiful Planet FYI released this week and one of the first HDR10+ discs released. Thank you Pieter V for tracking their release.

Cool the 2017 models are disc HDR10+ capable. Unfortunately from what I have read my 2016 model is only getting 10+ for streaming.

Have Samsung provided any updates in 2018 for this? Damn Samsung if this is the case as they stated earlier in a way that gave you understand HDR10+ was coming no matter the source.

They've been mum, it's "insiders" who have said it's only coming for streaming on 2016 models (and they even sound doubtful about that happening).

Actually, the 2016 TVs aren't getting HDR10+ at all. Samsung have deleted all of their press releases mentioning support for the 2016 models from their site.
