That did not stop DV and at the start it barely worked on most sets/players

I'll be waiting with bated breath ... NOT

I wouldn't say it was "unproven", this format is nothing like problems-a-go-go Dolby Vision in the way DV rebuilds images both at the source playback level and at the display remapping level. No, 10+ is strictly about the display remapping and it's comprised of literally the same HDR10 base layers that we have, just with an added layer of dynamic metadata as well as the static stuff. That's it, and that's why Warners were able to bang out so many of them so quickly. How/when/where that stuff will see the light of day is anyone's guess, but actual disc re-releases have the longest odds out of the lot.

Still, if they were to put out a freshly encoded Blade Runner on a 100GB disc with the 2007 5.1 mix and 10+ then I wouldn't say no to that!

Why not re-release them... sounds like an easy low-effort DOUBLE DIP opportunity! Although I think we all saw the static > dynamic metadata double dip coming from a mile away.

UHD market is not big enough for a HDR10+ double dip.... It makes no sense commercially

There's nothing really easy or low effort about remastering, reauthoring and repressing a disc. Not in this market.

I wonder how Pacific Rim would look with an upgraded HDR disc.

The Dolby Vision stream looks terrific on Vudu.

Now that my TV is gone, I don't care if its DV or HDR10+. If I buy a TV in future, it will be one that features both DV and HDR10+ provided it gets rave reviews like LG C9 or Sony AG9.

Just-so-you-know.... None of the LG's or the Sony AG range 'feature' support for HDR10+

We did? Huh. Still waiting for those floodgates to open, and I don't think they're gonna do it for a format that's used mainly on one manufacturer's TVs at that. (Yes, I know Panasonic does it as well as Samsung, but seeing as Panny don't actually sell TVs in the US any more...)

As Peter said, the cost of creating, manufacturing and distributing a brand new disc is not insignificant, the new glass master alone will cost five figures. Times that across the "hundred" movies that Warners have plussed and, well, I'm no maths whizz but that's a lot of money just to please people with Samsung TVs.

Yep and then there is a Panasonic 2019 OLED supporting both.

In your situation, I would still care because DV is still a better, more capable format.
