It's actually quite easy. Take something like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri. You just decide once whether its a drama or a comedy. Then it goes in that section. Worst case scenario, if you can't remember, you look at the 'T's' is two sections when you're looking for it.

I can't fathom having an entire movie collection sorted from A to Z, looking through the first letter of titles in order to try to find exactly what I'm in the mood to watch. For instance the other night I was craving an action shooter. You head straight to that section and quickly glance over all ~100 films that fit that description, weigh your options, and pick out the one that best tickles your fancy for that evening.

sigh, same here. I have run out both bookshelf space, and wall room to put more bookshelves. A major pile is accumulating on one of the kitchen countertops and the 4K pile is on the floor in the corner of my bedroom, at the base of my anime bookshelf.

I seriously need an entire room devoted to bookshelves and no furniture at this point. The struggle is real.

Completely separate (for now) they need their own case:

I have them mixed together in alphabetical order. I keep TV series separate from the movies. I don't see why to put them in genre as the Blu-ray app will list them by genre for you.

What shelving is that and where'd you buy them? I like how they are doubled, and each side appears to hold around 32 Blu-rays per shelf. Are they sturdy/no sagging that you've noticed? Thanks.

For me it becomes a, 'so where do I cross the line' sort of issue. If I lump Blu-ray and 4K UHD together, then why not DVD? And if I lump in DVD, then everything gets screwy. If I'm going to separate even one of the major formats, may as well keep them all separate.

I only recent began to set things aside for various other categories. Criterion get their own section, animated Disney, Godzilla, Studio Ghibli, anime. Basically anything that I have plenty of but can qualify putting together like that. And that all only really started because of Criterion, lol.

I put my 4Ks in a separate shelf under my TVs than on the main shelves with the regular Blu-Rays.

I just recently reorganized my whole collection by genre, then alphabetically within the genre. I'm in the 500+ blu ray club and it was just too daunting to try and pick something to watch when it was strictly alphabetical. At least now I have a starting point when I feel like watching something. I do lump my UHD's wth blu rays since the cases match but the dvds are separate.

I've had them for a little over a year and no sagging. There are also 3 and 4 column versions.

They actually look great and well priced, might have to look into some of those. How many blus would you say they hold? Looks to be around 350 based on the pic.

Yeah I have OCD, everything in my house needs to be organized. I try and channel it through this hobby. Got it from my Dad when he collected sports memorabilia. I have a very tolerant wife.

I keep them separately just as I do with DVD and BD.

You can fit 34 standard Viva Elite cases per row but its a little snug. I keep it at about 33 cases depending on Amaray and multi-disc cases. 33 x 12 shelves ends up at 396 cases.

Default Your 4K Movies

Do you keep your 4K movies mixed with your Blu-ray disks or keep them separate? I'm at a point where I need to decide on doing something...having them mixed together with my Blu-rays makes them a little difficult to find sometimes so I'm thinking about doing something like keeping them on a separate shelf. What do you do?

I keep them on a separate part of the shelf. Photos I've seen from others also tend to separate them, which I think makes sense since DVDs before BD I also keep distinct.
