In a big pile.

For real, it's all a bit unsorted right now because I'm kinda between systems due to space issues.

Unsorted right now, with the exception of my horror films, which are alphabetized. Next year, I'll be buying a MUCH larger shelf (or two), and then I'll alphabetize everything.

Currently it's not. I bought a bookshelf yesterday and I plan on organizing it tomorrow. I'm going to have two collections: one for my tv series and one for the movies. Both will be organized alphabetically with the movies being placed under what series they belong to so for example all the Batman films will be placed together and so will the Star Trek ones.

Same here; in chronological order - just decided this weekend Hobbit should be a prequel to LotR so that's where it goes now

BDs and DVDs are currently separate, though I plan to integrate them eventually. That is the only separation; I don't differentiate genres or movies / TV. Everything is alphabetical by title. Part of me wants to keep series / franchises together, but I'm sticking w/ the alphabet (for now ). Thus, Army of Darkness is in the 'A's instead of the 'E's w/ The Evil Dead, and Destroy All Monsters is in the 'D's instead of the 'G's w/ the other Godzillas. BTW, shelf space is at a premium, so I love multi-packs and double / triple /quadruple features (as long as I don't lose content vs. stand-alone releases); I HATE BDs that drop previous features and thus necessitate keeping an older DVD or previous release.

Just purchased a new blu-ray cabinet that can hold my whole collection. I'm thinking of going alphabetical order which seems to be the norm here. My concern is when you purchase new blu-rays do you move all your blu-rays over to make room? seems kinda annoying but can't think of a better option...

Cabinet i ordered, put it together last night. this thing is massive.

I just alphabetize. It's a real pain when I add something new cuz I gotta do a bunch of moving stuff around. Only exceptions I make is when movies are sequels of each other I'll put em by each other and I have my BBC Earth documentaries together too.

Yeah, that's a pretty massive one. I've just got this little thing:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Works for now cuz my collection ain't that big. What I'd really like to get is something with sliding glass doors but looking around at Amazon I haven't found anything yet that strikes my fancy.

Alphabetically by director unless there was some other more notable unifying factor- for example- Hammer Horror titles or Universal Monsters.

Alphabetical save for TV shows and Criterion releases. Those are still in the shelf but after everything else.

I really want to start sorting some stuff by director, like Tarantino and Mann, but it seems like such a pain to organize.

Default Arranging Collections

Do you arrange your blu shelves alphabetically, by genre, or some other way?

I've got them split into decades at the moment (and by year within). The current decade is on the top shelf (because it's ongoing) and then it's by preference: The 80s (which takes up three full shelves), the 90s (2), the 70s (1) and the 00s (1).

That links to this very thread. Did the two just get merged or are you being a smartass?

Got mine separated into genres. Have done this since the VHS days.
