It's weird because I would swear this title was in the list I (and others) posted a few months back when SF officialy provided 2 lists of OOP titles ("in stock while supplies last").

I was amazed to find the original Shout Factory double feature of Bill & Ted for 9.99!! I grabbed that one in a hurry. Once in a while I do get really lucky.

Good price on it. congrats.

With the sequel on the way does Shout Factory still have the distribution rights? It would make sense for MGM when Face The Music hits home video to do a UHD/BD set of all 3 Bill and Ted films.

edit: looks like it's still in print with Shout Factory along with the steelbooks.

I guess since it's MGM's property they can release a UHD of all Bill and Ted films if they choose to.

Was this transfer any better than the Mill Creek version?

Transfer is the same between the MC and Kino releases. Mill Creek is opened up to 1.78 while KL is 1.85 and has slightly better compression. Audio on both are unfortunately 2.0 mono despite being the same DTS-MA codec, when the Buena Vista DVDs were 5.1 and proper 2.0 surround.

These are showing signs of scarcity.

All the individual seasons appear to be recently OOP too, though some retailers still have stock of some seasons.

I was going through my blu-ray wishlist in preparation because a family member offered to pick up titles at a record store for me while they were out of state and realized that it looks like American Horror Story: Hotel blu-ray has gone OOP. One overpriced used Amazon listing and very few listings on eBay for it. It's a Fox title so I guess it makes sense, it's just crazy to me. Glad I had it picked up and glad I have Coven already in case the rest of the seasons go OOP as well.

With the HBO Max situation Gone with the Wind is OOS nearly everywhere. Any word if the BD is going OOP as well?

No there is no word of WB stopping distribution of one of their most iconic films. Literally all they did was pull it from a three-week-old streaming service, a move which is supposed to be temporary.

If the discs are out of print, it's only because there was plenty of existing stock until two days ago.

Gone with the Wind can be found at Walmart for $6.96. In the bin, or on the shelf with this slip:

Already have the old GWTW release with the gold slipcover. This is definitely a fad scarcity bluff that people are jumping on. Locally some people whose online stores have no history of any other movies are selling multiple copies of it, so word's definitely gotten around.

I picked up the luxe GTTW box from Walmart last year for $30, and I'm glad I did now.

Exactly. Warner is absolutely not suppressing the movie. People are in panic-buy mode, thinking they need to have a physical copy before GWTW gets erased entirely from the archives of Western Civilization. As one person put it, "GWTW is the new toilet paper."

The film was taken off the HBO Max streaming service until they come up with some sort of framing intro explaining the societal and cultural context. Much like they do with the more "problematic" Looney Tunes. Word appears that it'll be back by next week.

So, yeah, there's a run on existing copies. No doubt, a lot of the buyers are scalpers trying to load up in case the movie gets pulled altogether (a bad bet) or people who've not seen it and wonder what the fuss is about.

Like so many other titles out there, it's going to be stuck in that limbo until more copies get pressed and distributed.

It is definitely not going out of print. There is talk of WB adding some kind of disclaimer, either to the film or to the packaging, on future pressings though.
