Didn't realize The Art of War was OOP until I went to look for a copy to buy the other day. Sucks but I'm not paying $40-$60 for that movie. A cheap DVD copy it is.

Not a great movie anyway. If I didn't have the BD already I would settle for a DVD without much pain.

Apparently, the Paramount/Warner Bros. agreement is running out and Warner Bros. is not pressing any more Paramount titles.

Though there's also the possibility Paramount's rights have lapsed (The Machinist was a Spanish film picked up for US distribution) and the rights have returned to the producers.

The Machinist is no longer available on Bull Moose or Zia Record Exchange, which I typically find to be two of the last places to sell out of things. It looks probable that it is.

Heads up - The Other has less than 50 copies left at Screen Archives. Once they go, there will be no more.

It's basically all Paramount films.

I'd say it's not worth putting those on the OOP list yet since someone else will surely get the license and re-release the vast majority in one fell swoop, just like WB did in early 2013. Once that happens, any titles that didn't make the jump can then go on the OOP list.

I expect Universal to get the Paramount license as they are already distributing Paramount titles in Europe. That and Universal is always looking to beef up their home video/digital library.

And there are some titles (mainly titles made in tandem with CBS-owned divisions) that were not licensed to Warner Bros., such as the Star Trek movies.

This is Paramount too I believe, just released by WB per their agreement. I wouldn't be surprised to see this re-released by whoever picks up the license.

And the whole "Only 1 in stock for $199.99" is just ridiculous flippers hoping to attract an idiot with more money than brains. Copies are still out there (on the shelves in brick and mortar stores, and unopened in people's personal collections) and will pop up on Amazon and eBay for more reasonable prices (i.e., $40) from time to time if you keep an eye out.

Well, I bought the region free copy the other night have this title was first brought up on the thread. So, I grabbed it.

Now there are only three US copies left on ebay at the current time.

Agreed, although it's really not even at 40 yet. Sold listings have recently been between $9 and $24. So, it may continue to rise, but you're correct that one shouldn't grab the Amazon price (from a single seller with an outrageous price) as a gauge of its actual value. Those are the outliers.

I've always said, amazon prices are what some hope to get, ebay will show what people really will pay. There's also the instant price spike when word gets out of a title being OOP, then they all come back down at some point. Hell, Ticks was going for $70-100 a couple months ago, last I saw on ebay was around $40 and found one myself for $30 through a FB group.
That said, I still have an extra copy of True Romance, sealed and possibly the last one on earth. I'll let it go for 3 rack!

That's true... but the only reason Amazon movie prices get so high is because anyone who didn't sell a movie on there before 2014 cannot sell a movie with a MSRP of $25 or higher without pre-approval. The pre-approval process requires a seller to fill out an application and provide different receipts showing where you buy your movies. I hear it gets pretty complicated... And even if you are approved you still have to pay a $45 monthly fee. So, most of the sellers with movies on there now have gigantic used DVD/BD inventories and Joe Schmo DVD seller is left in the dust because he doesn't want to apply or pay the selling fee. They say this was to cut back on bootlegs but I don't really buy that. I bet most of their customer service staff have shelves filled with bootlegs...

UK version still looks cheap. Get it while you can!
That version is region free too.

The UK and Canadian editions look out of print also...

Did not know about this. I wonder if I could still try and sell there? I sold one dvd a long time ago, also putting it up for what at the time was a stupid high price ($70 for Two-Lane Blacktop tin), thinking it wouldn't sell, but then it went over $100 on most sites and it sold. Definitely before 2014, but I didn't like how much fee they took then, can only imagine it's worse now.

I sell on Ebay for my full-time income and I think they are a little pricey (10% of the total amount item price + shipping is a little much) I really don't think they should be allowed to charge anything on your shipping amount.

I looked into selling on Amazon and it's just way too expensive at $45 a month, as I don't list hundred and hundred of things a month, the 400 or so listings I get at Ebay for $15-20 a month is fine.
