Need to pick up some of those comedies before they're gone. Gonna check target and walmart first, then start ordering.

Thanks for the list & updates. Looks like I'm going to try to grab these blu's...

Saturday Night Fever
Wayne's World 1&2
Major League
Hatari!
El Dorado
Payback
Galaxy Quest
World Trade Center
Along Came A Spider
Congo

As long as the prices don't skyrocket before the 3rd of next month.

p.s. there is a region free import blu of "Liberty Valance" so I'll skip this version.

Yeah I would think the Warner-released Paramount titles might be the ones that won't be reissued so quickly or at least wouldn't be a "priority"...like Congo, Marathon Man, El Dorado, Hatari! Those other titles are ones Paramount packaged themselves and presumably were more popular (Major League, Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Waynes World) and, just a guess, would be likely to reappear faster.

I would love to see someone pick up Narc for a bluray release. Even though it's not nearly as good as ...New York, maybe Scream Factory can get Escape From LA to add to their Carpenter catalogue.

I don't recognize the seller, but there's a Groupon Marketplace listing for The Machinist for only $8. The picture shows it to be the WB reissue version (WB logo above the UPC on the back cover).

Groupon for The Machinist

There is a region free WB release of Payback as well. It includes both Theatrical and Straight Up versions of the film.

I think could be a good thing for a movie like Snake Eyes since it would give the opportunity to contain the alternate ending.

With news of Mary Tyler Moore's death, it's a shame Warner never got Ordinary People released when they had access to Paramount's library, unless that film was set aside for Criterion or elsewhere.

The thing that annoyed me reading it was seeing how many DVDs that I'd like to upgrade were part of this deal but just never released on Blu. I feel like the deal evaporating makes them that much less likely to ever get anything on that list that hasn't come out yet.

I used the DVD a few years ago to get the HDX copy on VUDU. I can't believe this still hasn't seen a Blu-ray release. But it does sound like something that Criterion would eventually get their hands on.

Jeez I look at that list of soon to be OOP Paramount titles (at least for the near future) and I feel a little overwhelmed as there are so many I really want.

I did place orders for a few titles for now. Looking at the list I would think many for sure would be released again in the future, such as The Truman Show (though I did order it) and The Untouchables. But I wonder about a title like War and Peace for example. I could see that one maybe not coming back into print for a long time, if ever? I'm not knowledgable about these things like many of you are though so I could well be wrong.

As Powell said above though, the deal ending could be a good thing if it leads to Paramount licensing to labels. Licensing is the future of catalog releases. Hell, it's the present. Warner not licensing and controlling the Paramount catalog probably cost us a lot of releases.

So while I do think stuff like Congo and Paycheck may vanish if Paramount doesn't bother reprinting them, this could lead to stuff like Escape From LA getting a Scream Factory edition or what have you.

UGH total relapse for me. I picked up Untouchables, El Dorado, and Hatari today for very good prices.

Last week I picked up Marathon Man, Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and Sabrina.

All for about 45-50 bucks. Eh what are you gonna do?
